Any news on 8000 series?

Hi!

I really like the design of the Nokia 8000 series of phones (8310, 8850, 8910i etc...). It has been over a year since Nokia released a phone from this range and I was just wondering if anyone knows any news on any more coming out?

Anyone heard any rumours or gossip as to what Nokia will release and when they will release it?

they've stopped making most of the phones in the 8000 series, 8310 has now been discontinued so i'm guessing theyre now going to play around with the 7000 and 6000 series

yep 6xxx will be the main series nokia will use with 7xxx being both fashion and 3G and more advanced handsets

3xxx and below will still be used for entry level fones

I'm looking forward to see the 8000 Series also, color phone in small size dimension... Just hope NOKIA would enlarge the display size (like 128 X 128 pixels) without expanding the phone length, width, and thickness... The same size as N8250 will be great... Cam is not necessary...

I think this serie will be the new luxuary serie of nokia... like the 8910, and the 8210- 8310 will be moved to the 7xxx and 6xxx series...

It is compact, has an exceptional showing off way of opening. Made out of Titanium, with bluetooth, what else do you want? I am shocked that Nokia made this phone actually.

If titanium cost so much why is the price of ususal 8910 now about 300 euros?? And the color screen on 8910i is not worth 350 euros.

Yep my point exactlly......
And the actuall titanium part of the phone is about 10 euro's cost price.......so expensive......not really.
But plastic covers are really really cheap to make.
I like the 8910i but no way I'm going to buy one for 700/750 euro's.

How to get the money back???
Once I made a transaction by credit card, the goods never delivered to my address, and the payment was already done by my credit card issuer...
I paid for something that I've never received, and can't even complain to the credit card issuer... So, just take it as bad luck and move on... Be more careful next time, especially purchasing things through the net...

When you made a puchase to internet, you should fill all your credit card information, also the 3 digit validation numbers at the back of credit card... And that confirm that you have made a legal and aware transaction which is directly will be billed to your credit card issuer... To claim back the money for purchase that you do not received, it will require an insurance that has been covered up by the credit card issuer... Unfortunately my credit card issuer doens't have that kind of facility, so I got mugged by the damn net transaction...

Bad and lousy experience, ever since I terminate the credit card service and change to more reliable credit card issuer that can really protect my right for the transaction I made... Now, I can be more relax, cause the credit card also has an insurance if the products that I bought was flaw or broke by accident...

They just won't help, and it took me a month to keep on calling them and ask for their assistance, but at the end it just a wasted efforts...
I shall say it is a very risky to make a purchase through internet, and if you really need to, ensure to ask more details from your credit card issuer about their protection of your rights if the vendors turn out as con...

I've been using CitiBank Visa for more than 4 years now, and once I call their CSO for information of purchasing stuffs through internet... Well, she was suggesting me to check the website first to ensure the reliability and the good company image... If not certain, better not, that what she suggested me...

American Express has an alliances for that, it is a sales & marketing policy to turn us to be become consumers... And I'm pretty sure not all the site is reliable and suggested by American Express, especially those pay site that serve an adult material, drugs, or sort of...
Many of them are cons, they are trying to steal your credit card information and then making a transaction under your cost... That is why always aware and extra cautious in making a transaction through credit card... You won't be covered by the credit card issuer, they won't bear your lost...

I am now doing business with some guys in Romania but I sent the money via Western Union and I agreed only to give him the code after I receive and check the phones. Without the code they can't touch one cent. (ate least that's what I was told, or is there way to go around it?)

why would they agree to do such a deal? they can be screwed, you can take the phones and not give them the codes!!! i m not saying that you should do that, but all i'm saying is that even in this way there are ways for cheaters to steal, and all that's chabged is that the seller can't steal but the buyer can.
so is there a way to make sure that neither of the sides can cheat?

Wha...? Doing business on the internet is one of the safest and quickest ways to do it (in some cases the cheapest) as long as it is done properly. In this case, mrjolly may have been better protected if he'd paid by credit card; he could apply for a chargeback if things went sour (as they did).

I just got my Nokia 6600 and i was wondering if anyone had a good suggestion as to how i can connect it with my pc.

I presume i need to get a blutooth "thing" for my pc. Does anyone know of a good one that i can get? I good site perhaps?

Hi,

i got a BT unit for the USB port. It works fine but i can only send a jpg picture to the PC. The Nokia PC Suite software does not find the phone. Neither can i send files to the phone either.

Dont know what is wrong.

Anyone have any ideas of how to configure the phone or the software in the PC?

It seems that the (*) indicator on my phone is only working for 2-4 seconds. When i want to send a file to my phone it tells me it cant find the File Transfer service on my Nokia 6600. And that it cant connect to the "Remote Device".

Please help.

Have you "Paired" the device and left both on discoverable? Sometimes this is overlooked but often helps maintain the connection.

Don't know what you mean by services, i try not to use my t68 for anything other than calling because it is now so slow and restarting and corrupting it is no use. So sorry, thats why i am getting a 6600!

Ok, sorry to hear that, but I can tell you. The Nokia is great. The only thing I need to get used to is the size. It is actually when I right click a file on my pc E.g. a background pic, and choose "SendTo - Bluetooth - Nokia6600" it tries to send it but it then states that it cant find the file transfer service on the phone and a second after that the (*) disappears. (*)=you have BT connection.

Have you tried using the InfraRed, it might want that as the File Transfer port like my t68 does. But i know boss had similar problems witht his 6310i but its sorted now, i shall ask him see what he did.

The thing is i only have a USB 1.1 BT adaptor and no IR. SInce i can send file from the phone but not to the phone (du to these pesky services that should be up and running on my phone) it must be a config thing with the phone.
It seems i can talk BT with the phone and also send file from the phone but using Nokia PC Suite or sending files to the phone just dot seem to work.

OMG what is that hideous giant next to the gaming-cover 3100? It looks like it could be a 3530 with a new cover. And the 5140 looks awful even next to the 5100, and its keypad backlighting is too bright.

The 6010, which is the one on the extreme right in the first pic, is the successor to the 3590, which is the GSM 850/1900 version of the 3510i/3530.

well the 3660 keypad is much much better than the 3650 altho its still quite a brick i like the keypad

the 7200 is a nice design but the main thing that is bad is the screen,in that foto the screen looks so stupid becz there is so much space wasted above the screen,thats a big disappointment

the 5140 looks very nice,altho its keypad looks a bit dodgy with the lights on

the 6010 is the first ive seen of it but it looks nice for a low end fone

the 3100 is an absolute gem of a fone

and the 7700 not good lol

That's the cover I like the most of N3100, the gaming cover... Damn, looks real cool, lol...
The SIM card reader copied from Motorola V-66, place at front of the phone... But, of course Motorola V-66 is much nicer design, it has a interchangeable bezel...

I find it odd for Nokia to release another non color phone like N6010, very strange sales & marketing strategy cause nowadays almost every phone manufacturers competing to produce a low end color phones...

FIO... be careful with the words that you use. The 5100, 5140 are splash proof, certainly not waterproof. So I advise any 5100 or 5140 owner to NOT try to hold your phone under water before realizing nokia described their phone as splash proof...

the one thing about my 3530 was that i jumped into a pool with it in my pocket and after about 2 minutes i realised that it was in my pocket and i dried it out with a hairdryer and left the battery out of it for about 2 days and now it is still working to this day,it was a tough fone the 3530 the only good thing about it

I guess I was a moron but I surely dipped my Nokia 6250 inside the swimming pool for abt 6times straight! My friends were very helpful and all took turns to throw too! After the 6th time, my phone went into a 'coma' for abt 10days b4 it became alive again. I had to wipe off lots of water droplets from inside the phone. The ph was supposed to be "water-proof" for up to 1min but I guess I went over the limit.

Believe me, Nokia 6250 is the most durable ph ever built!

Does the flip stay open at its staightest or does it naturally rest like all others?

BAD: Small screen, no BT, slightly wide.

GOOD: 1) Great 3 soft-key UI. Hopefully an external silence button that also deactivates flip.
2) Motorola StarTAC size, small enough but also retro flips into a brick.
3) Extra cm on most other screens only advantage is as view finder! Oh and Series40 apps.
