I tryed to play some mp3 with 6600. The quality of the sound is not acceptable, it's not becouse mono. It's the speaker on the phone. I also had slight pauses with one of the programs i used. As a result, do not consider it as a feature which will never satisfy the listener (at least i was not pleased with sound quality).

becouse i had none
. Just consider this , decoding mp3 files really try hard the processor. Doing some other tasks background will leave you lesser processing power, and you will get interruptions in the playback. That's why i consider it as a + but not a feature. It's expressing software capabilities as the phone's. Phone has only the ability of multi tasking and a good processor. Software has the ability to playback music, and as a bad poiont i belive the software around is just not yet to be mentioned as very good, even good.

I also wanted to ask the same question to all the Nokia 3650/3660/6600 users. Many of us consider to buy the 6600 because it has an MMC card slot so that one could load mp3's and use it as an mp3 player. But then I read a lot about how the sound quality on these phones was bad because they were mono. But, has anyone tried using the 6600 as an mp3 player? How is the sound quality?
Also, I saw that the Nokia Dual Headset (HDD1 or something) were stereo headsets compatible with these phones, so does one get stereo output from them?
All in all, do you think it is a good idea to buy these phones to use them as mp3 players or must one wait for the 6230 or 7610 which offer Stereo audio?

The 6600 is not that good for mp3s. When using the headset I got with my 8310, I think Im listening to double mono. I have the old Nokia 5510, and the quality of that is MUCH better than the 6600...I think that phone is stereo. Im not sure though, but it could be the app Im using to play the mp3s that is letting the 6600 down.
Another thing is, when you are listening to mp3s, you cant do much else. If you are using another app and a msg comes up, it cuts the mp3 music off and doesnt come back on (when using UltraMP3). You then have to go into the app, exit it, and go back in....very annoying.
The 6230, i guess, is worth waiting for if mp3s are the most important feature to you. Im using my 6600 for n-gage games and watching full movies....totally awesome....so I would recommend the 6600 anyday.
