Hello,
Just wondering if anybody else has this problem:
My 6230 came with a MP3 song on the MMC card. However it, and other MP3s which I have copied accross, skip around every 10 seconds and sometimes the phone crashes.
Even when an MP3 is assigned as a ring tone it skips. I am using the 32MB MMC card that came with the phone.

i question the "it" that you say everyone is complaining about
(unless it's at esato!
),
most of the problems i see are either once off problems or minor
bugs, the major bugs that seem to be reported so far are the
caller id bug, and gallery bug
As far as i can see, with the MMC card compatibility issue it is
unfair to blame it on the 6230. It's like bringing a PC formatted
disc and expecting it to work on a MAC.
As with the problem JensonF1 is describing, is every song
skipping like that? How was the mp3s encoded? How was the
MMC card formatted
ps. Bart: the person asked a question, please be more
constructive and try to help the person instead of your dumb
ranting
that happens to me too, the music player can only see music files that are in the "music file" folder and MMC directory and cannot see past the sub folders.
The issue i'm talking about is the same issue as with the 6600,
certain brands of MMC cards do not work so well with the 6230,
eg. on certain brands mp3 ringtones don't work, etc,
i assume these are the "bugs" Bart always mentions but never
specify

i meant the caller group bug, but i believe there's a fix for that
with the new firmware or doing a master reset

I also dont have that problem but I use AAC format, I use small Mp3 clips for a Message tone alerts
. Maybe the cause of skipping is due to transfering of files via faulty bluetooth connection, bad MMC reader/writer (have one of those and its sending my n6230 corrupt files even files that are there but can't be seen in the phomes menu), or bad data cable. The mp3 "Strange Transmissions" that came with the MMC plays smoothly, but if it really skips no matter what you do, better take it to the nokia service center
hopefully you got warranty.

Also had my phone for a few weeks with no mp3 skipping problems.
i put a 128mb card in last week before my trip to the USA and filled it with mp3s all 128k 44.1k and no probs. Filled the phone memory with videos and photos ive been taking while away.. and have started saving photos and videos straight to card now... and no problems..
Cheers.

what mmc compatibility issue? if you're talking about PC not finding it, that was solved, just rename the MMC in 6230's gallery and PC will see it.
and caller id bug? what's that?

i have a 128 mb mmc card on my 6230 and it works just fine, experienced no problems so far.
however when i set an mp3 from the mmc card as the ringtone i experience a short delay. copying the mp3 ringtone from mmc to the phones main memory pool fixes the delay problem.
i guess it takes time for the phones main processor to pick up the ringtone from a 128 mmc card, but hey this is not a pentium 4, and i guess we should keep our expectations at a reasonable level

Yes there are a few bugs, even on the one I tried out today. No hardware problems... nothing that a few firmware upgrades can't sort out. But it's a shame that it had so many problems, especially since it took so long for it to come out. Think how bad it would have been if it hit the shelves in Early February like Nokia said it would!?
