Can nokia 6600 be used to type and view chinese texts?? I heard that it is impossible.... Can someone please clarify? __________________ yes it can.... the best way is install an external chinese programme to your phone...the u can view chinese words and even type pinyin... the other way is reprogramme your phone to chinese version software...anyway...the first way would be better __________________ since it can view and type chinese texts then why should we install a third-party application that enables us to type chinese into this phone? __________________ few questions i wanna ask are: can 6600 play mp3 files? does it have an USB port? how do i transfer data from a PC to 6600? Is there a data cable? does 6600 hav presence enhance contacts? I am considering buying this phone, so i need serious advice and answers on the quality of its camera and features as well... __________________ reprogramme is possible....but if your 6600 is till under warranty, reprogramme the phone would spoild the warranty sticker..so...your phone is not under warranty anymore...therefore external chinese programme would be better for new phone... 6600 can play mp3...but third party software must be installed...anyway...audio quality would just be acceptable... 6600 doesn't have USB port...both infrared and bluetooth can be used to connect to your pc... camera quality is excellent...and screen is the best among Nokia... you won't regret of buying this phone...go for it... __________________ I have just clarified with my local dealer. They told me 6600 cannot be used to type or view chinese input. Data transfer from PC is possible with a data cable but Nokia PC Suite for 6600 has to be installed. __________________ I don't intend to buy it since I can't view or input chinese texts using this phone... External chinese program seems very troublesome... __________________ dun be silly....your local dealer is correct...but he didn't tell u everything...all the Symbian phone can't view chinese texts by original software...but it does by just installing an external software?...why not?...infrared or bluetooth can do it easily by pressing few buttons...come on.... __________________ by the way, where to download the chinese program? what is the name of the chinese software? since it does not have a USB port then in order to transfer data from my PC to the phone, i need a Bluetooth module for my PC. That will at least cost about $100. Maybe 6230 is better? It has an USB port, built-in mp3 player, video player but I'm not sure it is able to view/type chinese texts. I think it has all the features that nokia 6600 has right? __________________ u can get the chinese software everywhere...mobile shops??...an infrared device is enough for u to connect to pc...6230 does support USB port?...I dun think so...of course 6230 does support chinese(platform 40)...but 6230 is not Symbian phone...software can't be installed to the phone for upgrating or extra features...plus...6230's screen is just 128x128.....much much lower than the 6600 has...so...I think u know what is the effect.... there are some other Symbian phone in the market...Siemens SX1?...Sendo X?...try to think about it... ![]() __________________ then may i know the N-gage can be installed chinese programme to display and write chinese text just like the 6600? __________________ as long as the phone is under Symbian OS....thousands of third party applications can be installed to your phone...anyway...I am not sure whether N-Gage can or not....because N-Gage is not popular in my country...though I have no experience on it...but I think it is not a problem since N-Gage is also a Symbian phone...however....installation of N-Gage would be more difficult because N-gage doesn't support infrared...data cable or bluetooth might work..... __________________ ic.. thanks i am from ur country too hehe __________________ In Malaysia...I think N-Gage would not be so popular...since the game cartridge is soooooo expensive...I still feel that...N-Gage is not worth to buy... __________________ actually N-gage has an USB port __________________ I found a website that sells the chinese software. It is called Q9 chinese. I phoned and asked the dealer. He told me that I can install the software but then when I switch off my HP and turn it on again. I have to personally go to the chinese application and ON it again. So it's like everytime I switch off and on the 6600, in order to read the chinese texts, I have to switch on the chinese software. I feel it's a little bit troublesome... It's not like window, where u can put any programs in the start-up, so when window starts, ur desired program will also start automatically. Symbian OS does not have this feature isn't it? __________________ yes...it is called Q9...I just remember mentioned by you...of course u have to ON the software after your phone has been restarted...all the 3rd party software are facing the same situation...if u feel a little bit troublesome...so just go and reprogramme the phone to a chinese version software...everything is done... __________________ hehehe.... ok... but I am not so pro! Anyway, thanks for the all the responses, Tu!@ng Man! U have been a great help to me! __________________ welcome...just sharing some experience.. __________________ hmmm... i can get a bluetooth ard $40-$49 __________________ infrared is cheaper... __________________ I juz found out from a dealer selling Q9 Chinese, he said it is not desirable to leave Q9 Chinese on as it will drain away the battery..... |
