push to talk

if i understand push to talk is some kind of a walkie-talkie function on the 5140, but how does it work practicly, do you need phonenumbers for that? or are you just scanning the area for other mobile push to talk phones? and how will be the cost about that, do you have to pay an operator? are these the same cost of a normal phone call?

It only works if your operator supports it, and currently none do it here in Sweden, and I don't think they do it in other countries yet either. Perhaps the US? However, the cost is as for using GPRS, so it is much cheaper. Hence, the operators won't be to quick to apply this.

here in israel there is such a function, but only one of the network companies has it, when you buy the phone you give them a certain amount of numbers of phones that also have this function , so a family can buy five phones and talk between themselves for free, but the network company that has this service is the most expensive , and it's the only company that you have to pay a monthly fee....
