silver 6230 in asia(HK)...then black???
i would like to ask.... the silver 6230 can be black (including the keypad) just by changing covers??? I am afraid the cover for sale would not include a black keypad..... __________________ probably not, but if you buy the graphit version, you got the dark keypath, do you buy the pearl white one, you got the grey keypath... so they are available __________________ it seems that the cover for sale does not include the keypad... so...can i get different colors of keypad from nokia shop? __________________ i don't know if the keypaths are sold seperatly. what if your keypath brake or melts or gets fuzzy etc... there have to be someway to replace it? No? for those who are thinking/laughing with how a keypath can melt, once upon a time someone i know was cleaning his mobilephone and he washed the keypath and cover in the kitchen. After cleaning under water he put the keypath down, accidently on the electric ovenplate that was used 10 minutes before to make dinner... Don't try this at home... ![]() __________________ LoL... =P.... But keypads are ALWAYS sold saperately right?.. __________________ keypad are sold seperately....but it is very difficult to find a shop which is selling original keypad...most of the time u can order one from Nokia Priority...but very expensive...some even ignore to order for u...very bad service by Nokia... However...once I saw a original cover of 7250i sold in the Nokia Priority and the the cover include keypad too...just one set of that...other dun have...price is...about USD45...I think Nokia just made a mistake in producing the covers... __________________ here in india, original nokia covers of only 7250 and 7250i have keypads none of the 7250/i covers are sold without keypads but other original phone covers are sold without keypads __________________ I am always searching the original 6600 cover and keypad but non of the shops have.... __________________ tulang, howmuch do ytou have to pay for the original keypad for your Nokia?.. you said expensive.. how expensive is expensive? (ringgit will do =P) __________________ Tu!@ng Man i think the 6600 doesn't have covers. You can buy it in 2 colors but that's it... __________________ dxreaper i ask the person who putted his mobile on the ovenplate and he bought a new keypath for the price of 24 Euro... not cheap for a peace of rubber __________________ Quote:
![]() __________________ kristof.vanriet 24 Euro?!?!... That's freaking expensive isn't it?.. I got a new keypad for my T610 for only RM 18... Original from their service center.... (USD1=RM3.8) __________________ reaper...I already ask many times for many shops...but non of the shops can give me a correct price...even Nokia Priority also say not sure...they just told me...RM100 something... krist....6600 cover is changable...there are a lot of 6600 covers sold out there but not the original one...I just curious about whether there is a original one will be released... Nokia 6230 on the market in the Netherlands!
Tonight I got the information that the 6230 is on the market in the Netherlands. See the next page: http://www.gsmtrack.nl/index.htm MR __________________ for those who speek no dutch, a quick translation: the devices are sold with contract to an phone operator, and all are free (with Vodafone, T-mobile and Telford) and are on sale, deliverable in 5 days. The device cost 400 Euro without contract + 11 Euros sending costs... that means, you can buy it... Whiiiiiii __________________ also in belgium, it's available since 25/03/04 for 430 Euro taxes included: http://users.pandora.be/sergevandermaesen/ __________________ and this on-line shop also has got it... http://www.mobileshop.com/mobilephon.../nokia6230.php __________________ I also got mine today. a white one. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 423 euro.. ok price I think.. __________________ Hjorten and are you happy with it? can you give us a short review? __________________ Hjorten....how is the phone perform??...and....how much does it cost in USD?? __________________ 410ˆ = 350 USD __________________ 410euro is 359 usd..................must be joking my friend. 410 e is 500usd __________________ Quote:
I'm happy to have a Nokia again. Really missed that, even though I'm more a clamshell kinda guy.. Note, unlike V600, this phone was delivered on time, and is bugfree (well, we have found one small so far, but that's nothing to speak of).. __________________ "It's fabolous, amazing" ![]() it is a littlebit overreact Hjorten. You can call it it's a avreage phone and very expensiv for what it cost. Monts ago i have a 6230 to "prototype" i find this not fabolous. Poor screen 128x128,MPeg4/3 player, very borring Interface and to expensiv ![]() that is the main reason why i cannot love this phone. __________________ It is really expensive...USD500...same price as the 7200...both phones are too expensive...!!! __________________ you can not love this phone draak bc it's nokia... stop pretending the phone sucks... __________________ No i don't pretending that the phone is sucks. What i mean is that the 6230 alot better if it without Mpeg4/3 player and MMC slot,it's compleet useless if talk about quality of Mpeg4/3 player. If the 6230 has 128x160 or screen like the 60 series, than was a another story. The 6230 has good performance that is a good point, richt? __________________ it's a known fact that you are a Nokia-hater. So what you say can't be taken serious. Judge if you have the final version. I rest my case ... __________________ Does the package include a data cable or handsfree or both? How fast is the transfer speed between phone and computer with the data cable? Have any of you tried a big MMC in it yet? Cheers dudes, cant wait till i get mine! __________________ lol.. so draak, you're not pretending... that's funny... the 6230 would be a lot better if they removed features? if they removed the mp3 player and mmc card? what kind of dumb remark is that? yet the screen being 32 pixels longer would suddenly make it a good phone? and then you want a screen the size of a series 60 phone with the 6230 still being that small? how many stupid things can you say in a row? quite a few obviously... __________________ What is the point if 6230 have Mpeg4/3 player the qaulity is sucks? The 6220 ia alot better than the 6230. __________________ better question. what is the point of you posting in the nokia forum? do you think you will get people to love se and hate nokia like yourself? do you feel good after each nokia bashing post? __________________ Please let us know about the profiles... They do not work on the MT reviewed by one Czech server... Also the cable cannot be used for data transfer (just pictures, tones etc..). If you want to connect to internet, you need to use BT or infra... __________________ Quote:
__________________ bdboy142 you also have something like a small factor thing... the 6600 indeed have all those feaures, but it's dubble in size... __________________ Quote:
6220 doesn't have and 6230 has: - Bluetooth - MMC slot - VGA camera - EDGE class 10 - MP3/AAC player - 65k color screen etc. etc. etc. etc. And again, stop judging the 6230 based on some prototype you maybe (I doubt it though) have used some time. __________________ Quote:
__________________ JohnV mayby draak 1 saw a dummy of this phone, offcourse the phone suck if you see that, it's not working... ![]() __________________ I saw it and used it on the Cebit! It's better than the 6220, but cannot compete with the screens from SE and Samsung. The camera is Nokia stan- dard. Thus ok. Also the MMC is in the phone itself. You must get rid off the battery first before accessing the MMC card. That is a thing that should be changed. Very unhanding when you want to change quickly. The K700 is a nice competitor relating the screen and the functions but what a pitty for the missing MSD slot. MR __________________ Quote:
Sorry for the OT. __________________ You are completly correct. Only it is quite difficult to pick aphone call your mum and ask here how the phone sounds on the other side. ![]() Would be a big price for a SE or Nokia if everybody would do that on the Cebit. MR __________________ Nokia's screen and camera performance may not comparable with many other brands...but...for me...Nokia handphone overall performance is always the best...user-friendly...that is what i am looking for... however...there are someone who are not seeking for user-friendly interface...for them...maybe the phone has only a good screen and good camera...they will be satisfied very much...and blame over Nokia phones... anyway...for SE fans...just go for your SE phones...for Nokia fans...Nokia always the best... __________________ Alamak... Tulang.. what is userfriendly?... =P... Something you're used to... doesn't mean it's actually user friendly... if you're used to whiping your ass with leaves... that's userfriendly to you as your butt is used to the feeling of leaves and when you change to toilet paper, it's not userfriendly as you prefer leave... I hear that the K700 has a 'how to use' function =P... It's like a short tutorial on how to use the phone.. now THAT'S user friendly.. hehe.. so new users wouldn't be lost running thourgh the menu __________________ dxreaper and a great/userfriendly interface don't need a tutorial to learn how to work with it... __________________ It's because people are used with nokia's buttons and all, so tutorial to teach you se's way.. that's all... admit it man.. we're all just too used to nokia... last time when i was using the 8210, i was also like you all.. say it's userfriendly, refuse to even look at alternatives or even try other menu. touch one, i would say it's veyr confusing and not user friendly... it's because nokia first came with this menu and was 'famous' since the 3210 period, therefore everyone WANTS to learn a nokia... so that's why alot of peopel are used to nokia... It's like MAC and Windows... people who are used to windows would say mac is not userfriendly.. but the mac users don't think so... some recons it's even better.. __________________ dxreaper off course i'm just to the nokia menu, i have it since very long (my 5110) so indeed easy to use, but when i first got the phone, i didn't needed a tutural/guide to know how to work with it... except for some small features to know where they are... i haven't regret it for one bit... i also used alcatel, the menu system is totaly wrong, sorry but i can't work with it, to complicated, samsung the same, especialy at first, but after a while it goes well... i never had a problem with the Sony and Ericsson menu system, that's also an easy to use system... Motorola is the king on top of the hill of worst User Interfaces ever, or they were anyway. Don't know how it is these day's. but the OS totaly sucked on the V60, terrible. You recieve an sms and you didn't know from who it is, (only the number is displayed) etc.... so, every system got it's pro and minus... but i still like the nokia system. Easy... __________________ Quote:
I've yet to try a big MMC card, but will soon. I love the phone.. I know many others have bigger (and even better) screens, but right now it's the only one with a MP3 player (GX30 only has this)+ MP3 ringtones (Vx00 only has this) plus a extension card, and I value that very high.. I'm aware of all the people around here hating Nokia just for being Nokia, but I couldn't care less because I'm very happy with my phone, and at the end of the day that's what matters. __________________ I can understand mp3 ring tones but if you were interested in an mp3 player wouldn't you be better off getting a specialised flash player, or an something from the iPod range? I just can't imagine you getting the sound quality out and except for compactness there doesn't appear to be much warranted for the extra cost. Then again the 6230 is still one of the nicer phones I think but I always preferred more conservative designs. __________________ Quote:
To all of you saying 6230 sucks: what is the purpose of saying it? Most of you have not tried the phone yourself, and I think we all know what kind of screen it has by now. So just shut up and let those who want a 6230, buy it for whatever reason they like!! You guys sound like kids saying "my dad is stronger than your dad!". Its just stupid, and i hope you realize that soon. If you dont like Nokia for whatever reason, then just shut up, and take your opinions elsewhere! Most of us are able to read and understand what the 6230 is and is not! __________________ a phone is user friendly or not is different for everyone one mah...u think I only use Nokia phone before meh??...I have used Samsung...Motorola...siemens...erricson and etc...but I still prefer Nokia...Nokia is user-friendly for me mah...but maybe is not for u leh... that is the point I say SE fans go for SE...Nokia fans will always have Nokia phones the best... ![]() __________________ =P.... you see, i'm very picky.. hehe... while 'nokia' might be user-friendly, so is SE to me, but the difference is that SE's menu is much nicer to look at, and with the themes option, it never ends.. i just keep making themes for myself and it's nice =D __________________ themes are nice, but you got used to it, then you got bored.... and then you got piss off when the phone can not connect properly, and then this: What the F*** are they thinking about when they implemented the SMS menu! __________________ For SMS menu...I will always support that Nokia sms menu is the best!!!... my 6600 is also supported for theme...and for me the theme of 6600 is much nicer than the SE one.... I found a disadvantages of SE phones...SE phones' bluetooth is much weaker than the Nokia ones... __________________ Quote:
The quality is ok for normal short usage on 6230.. __________________ Bluetooth on SE poor?.. hmm... i'll try it out.. LoL.. Never noticed it... SMS is easy for me... just move the joystick left =P... Mavi forum |

Nokia in 2004
today was the Nokia Annual General Meeting in Helsinki. They talked about what happend in 2003 and what will happen in 2004... here are some highlights... 40 new nokia's this year: "As a part of expanding mobility into the different areas of our lives, businesses and communities, Nokia launched a record 40 new mobile devices last year, and we expect to launch a similar number in 2004," said Jorma Ollila. "Our product portfolio will continue to be very competitive and will offer mobile devices that change the way we work, play and stay connected to the people and information that matter to us expand Voice, Mobile multimedia and enterprise In 2004, Nokia's strategy continues to focus on three key activities: expand mobile voice, drive consumer mobile multimedia and bring extended mobility to the enterprise. "We have been following the trends in these markets for many years, and we shaped our strategy and business to establish a strong and visible presence," said Ollila. "Increasing data traffic and the readiness of people to use their mobile devices for different tasks suggest that the multimedia and enterprise solutions markets offer new business opportunities." 3G Nokia believes that 2004 will be the year of full-scale commercialization of 3G WCDMA. By the end of 2004, Nokia expects that more than 50 WCDMA networks will have been launched and that a large number of WCDMA handsets from different vendors will be available. financial (2002 vs 2003) Net sales decreased 2%, Nokia Mobile Phones net sales were up 2%, Nokia Mobile Phones volumes grew 18%, Nokia's estimated mobile phone market share was slightly above 38%, Nokia Networks sales decreased 14%. We strengthened our position in three strategic areas by attaining the number one market position in the United States and the number one position in GSM in China, as well as significantly increasing global CDMA market share. __________________ could u provide some specific details about the strategy of nokia in 2004. 2005 is better. Thanks! __________________ the key elements for 2005 are: - smartphones - music (mp3) - WIFI (bussiness sulutions) - 3G (mid end 3G phones expected this year) Mavi forum |

N-gage II
what do you think, after reading this article. from indiemagazine Nokia is inviting members of the media to a pre-E3 event on April 14 at London’s Leicester Square, where it is expected to unveil the successor to N-Gage. Nokia’s PR agency Chocolate Communications has invited media representatives to “be one of the first to see into the revolutionary future of 21st century mobile gaming (no crystal ball necessary!)”. Commenting on the event a Nokia spokesperson said: “I can’t say what it’s for but if you take a guess, you’d probably be correct. It will be the chance to see lots more stuff; there will be lots of content and also product on demo.” The spokesperson also said the event will include Nokia representatives, including input from Finland. It is not clear why Nokia has decided to hold this event pre-E3, apart from to have the media’s undivided attention. However, it is confirmed that Nokia will still hold a press conference at E3, where numerous announcements will also be made. Last month Nokia said N-Gage had until November 2005 to succeed offcourse it's still a rumor... ![]() __________________ Seems very logical to bring new n-Gage now as Jorma Ollila has said N-Gage sales hasn't been what it should've been. And about "Last month Nokia said N-Gage had until November 2005 to succeed" I think Nokia means N-Gage as a system, so the system (including various consoles) has until Nov 2005 to succeed... __________________ also the register.com speaks of a new N-gage, where they fix sidetalking, hot swapable mmc... Some critics suspect that Nokia only launched the N-Gage console-phone to drum up interest for its Series 60 platform amongst game developers. This is an expensive way of building a brand. The phone giant is pressing ahead, and has acknowledged that it will fix the two most serious design issues with the first generation of the device. One of which made the N-Gagethe butt of many jokes. It's officially confirmed what John Romero, developer of the iconic game Doom, suggested two weeks ago (although he denied that he'd seen a prototype of N-Gage 2). Nokia's Kirsi Kotilainen, head of game developer relations, has promised that N-Gage owners won't look so stupid when making regular phone calls, as the microphone has been repositioned. He's also said that version two will support hot-swapping games cards. The first N-Gage required the phone to be powered down and the battery removed. Nokia argued that TV-based consoles ask the user to reboot, so why not phones? However, this isn't really a sustainable argument any more: Nokia's 9200 'brick' smartphone supported hot-swappable MMCs three years ago; and rivals such as Sendo's SX1 happily perform the trick. Kotailainen also said that the next N-Gage will be backward compatible with the earlier version. Electronics Arts president John Riccitiello recently described the first N-Gage as "a dog" but expressed confidence that Nokia would eventually succeed. __________________ got pics of N-gageII ?? __________________ any series 60 phone could play n-gage games, so I think nokia is B.S-ing gamers. __________________ Quote:
After all, it is better to play games on a machine that shape than any other series 60, but at the moment it is too much hassle. __________________ cant wait for the new SE-sony co project __________________ @tonich03 What project? do u mean there will be a PS/sonyericsson gaming phone?? if so how do u know? @Junker I know that n-gage is a good shape for gaming but what I want to say is that how nokia tell the people that the n-gage is its only gaming phone if all series 60 play these game...so I think this is BS. I mean any smartphone can have these graphics in there phones(check V-rally in p900 or other series 60). I really prefer to have a PSP (when it comes out) because really these consols will get more that 10 times more games than the n-gage...I know many people bought the n-gage but in terms of a gaming consol it was really bad, and as someone said n-gage was really a strategy by nokia to make series 60 poplure to gamers. __________________ of course u will feel much more comfortable to play a game with N-gage... Nokia 4110
why do u think nokia doesnt come out with 4xxx series?? they have everything from 1 to 9. is this becoz there is no REDtooth or infraBLUE ???!! lol!! what do u tech critics got to say?? __________________ The word FOUR is in the asian country an very bad word. Nokia 3650,Worth buying today
Hey everyone, I just wanna ask a question whether 3650 is worth buying today. Its discontinued from nokia, but its still available in the stores. The price now is 276 USD.Do you think its worth buying this fone at this price even if its discontinued. If yes than there are many questions which i have to ask to all 3650 users. firstly,i have heard that in 3650 we can watch movies.I want to know how is the clearity.I know that it can't be compared with the clearity of a normal screen. Can we understand the movie if we are watching in 3650.Is it that clear to see a movie in 3650.How is the sound quality. I have heard that we can even play mp3 in this fone. How is the clearity of mp3.Is the sound loud enough to listen. I have also heard something about irremote.Whats the use of that thing.I mean can we change the channels. How far i have to keep the fone to change the channel. Many other questions ,but reply to the above questions. Please reply __________________ mumbaifans I think better going for 3660 with more apps and not high price ,,, but more worthy than old 3650 !!! __________________ the great benefit of the 3660 that it's got a 65K screen vs a 4K for the 3650, so movies will be shown better with the nokia 3660, secondly, don't expect the best movie quality, you're still use a mobile phone with a 'small' screen, if you compare to a television... that will explane your first question. the soundquality of the mp3player and even the movieplayer is loud enough, but not the perfect quality, an mp3player will do the job better, much better... the IR-remote is a Symbian program wich you can use a an remote control for your tv, stereo, dvd-player. compare it with an universal remote control. it got an hole list of manufactors support it... for more information go to http://my-symbian.com/main/index.php great site for software for the 3650 and other S60 phones... __________________ 3660 will be better than 3650 with the 65k colour screen... for watching movie...u can use a 3rd party application...for example the smartmovie programme which can play movie in full screen with a very good quality...the clearity is much better than what u think... mp3 can be played by using 3rd party application too...like Ultra mp3....sound quality is not bad...but of course not in stereo... a lot more can be done by using 3rd party application...if u wish to go for 3650...3660 would be much better for its 65k screen...not too expensive... __________________ Thanx saliquincer kristof.vanriet Tu!@ng Man for ur replies. __________________ i think 3650 is the cheapest symbian fone. What other companies offer symbian fones.I have heard that 3650 ring tone volume gets slow after a use of a month or so.Is it true. __________________ please tell me is the above problem which i have said is actually there in 3650.Also tell me all problem which users find in 3650. Other than this please tell me which all handsets comes under series 60 platform with symbian os. Any other symbian handset you recommend __________________ Wait for the Panasonic X700.... It will knock your socks off.. ![]() __________________ Link To A Useful Nokia 3650 Site: http://www.angelfire.com/pro/nokia3650/ S60 Devices: Panasonic X700 Nokia 7650 Nokia 3650 Nokia 3660 Nokia 6600 Nokia 7610 Nokia N-Gage Sendo X (won't be avaliable in india i think) Siemens SX1 Samsung D710 (Coming Soon) __________________ I dun think panasonic X700 is so GREAT!!!... so far many of the people will go for 3660 or 6600...I think the new 7610 will be another hottest symbian phone... __________________ I don't think it worth buying now, unless you really short in funds but desperately want a Symbian phone... even the cheapest. It's huge, it's bulky design and cheap materials make me think of some home appliances - TEFAL logo would look much better on it than NOKIA. My question is: Could I use it with either a prepaid service or contract service in Canada? Rogers? Fido? Here in Finland you can buy whatever phone you wish to use with any operator you like...I guess it's a little different in Canada? __________________ you can't use all types off phones over there, you've got gsm and TDMA networks in Canada. so you have to be carefull if you choice a providor... for the rest i don't know more about Canada Mavi forum |

nokia 3200 vs nokia 7250i
which is better in screen in battery life in camera in desigen etc.................... ![]() __________________ The screen are the same battery life too camera is the same too but in design the 7250i is much better than 3200 dont have doubt about it, i was thinking in buy a 3200 because its price but i bought the 7250i its more beautiful, and the memory of 7250i is around 4 mega while 3200 is only 700 kb. __________________ its 1 mb of 3200 __________________ 7250i is NOT AS WORSE AS 3200....just 7250i wins from its 4MB memory... In my opinion...both are ugly...other features are totally same... __________________ if you have to choice one off both and you don't care about how it looks and about the 4Mb vs 1Mb and some other small features (althow the 3200 has got edge) go for the 3200, it's just cheaper, like it looks... the 7250 has got better buildingquality and nice design, the 3200 is more playfull, or as some called it 'ugly'... __________________ more replies __________________ I have to admit that 3200 is the cheapest camera phone by Nokia...however...if u dun mind about the $$$....I will recommend to take 6230...or a smart phone...at least VGA camera can take an acceptable quality photo...CIF camera is too bad... __________________ which all nokia phone have vga camera and thier model no __________________ 7250i haves digital camera + zoom+nightmode 3200 built in camera only+nightmode which is better __________________ currently only Nokia smart phone has VGA camera... 6230 would be the first Nokia series40 which has VGA camera... 7250i is only able to zoom after u take the photo...it can't zoom while photo hasn't been taken...anyway...it is just a digital zoom...not an optical zoom...digital zoom just make the photo blurer... Application can make as many digital zoom as u wish....i have a programme call Flexicam Pro in my 6600 which can have a 2800% of digital zoom....but the photo taken is very blur... so...no point to have a zoom... __________________ but 7250i haves a digital camera __________________ Tu!@ng Man for optical zoom you need an lens system in the phone/camera, that is not yet used in a phone... all phones uses digital zoom, but when you have an megapixel phone, the quality will be acceptable, but not a VGA cam... the best zoom program (for pc) is S-spline, very good enhancer of the quality of a picture when u resize __________________ I still can't believe that 7250i is still mentioned here, people you have to move on and live la vida loca amigos. 3660 vs 660 screens ?
is there much difference between the n6600 and 3660 screen? both were launched together....... have the same resolution and display the same no of colors. but the other day my 3660 screen paled in comparision to the n6600. the screen on 6600 was much brighter and richer. too me it seemed that the 6600 truly displayed 65k colors and mine only 4k. is this common or just my phone? any 3660 user who has compared it to a 6600 anyway to adjust the brightness of the screen. settings allow only contrast regulation on my phone. __________________ ya right...the 6600 screen will be looking a bit brighter than the 3660 one... New Nokias: 6255, 6015, 3205
Phones are for CDMA market. More info and pics about 6255 , 6015 and 3205 . 6255: - 128 x 160, 65 k + 96 x 65, 4 k displays - BT, IR, USB - MIDP 2.0, BREW 2.0 - MMS - VGA cam with flash - MP3/AAC -player - MMC - Video recorder/player - GPS ... __________________ 6255 really looks a lot closer to what the 7200 should have been. __________________ 6255 looks really good ...but :S the screen is still small...why do nokia do this...evey other company has biger displays in the clamshell phones..another thing is its really nice to have flash, but a 1.3 mpx camera with it would look even better..btw this phone is much better then 7200 in specs, but I dont like the design that much its like a box...moto and samsung have great designs for clamshell phones...but thats good fromm nokia as this is only there second clamshell __________________ 6015 would be good with a 128 x 128 screen __________________ hoping nokia bring some more clamshell devices to the european marked... looks nice, but everything can be better... __________________ Nokia 6015 and 3205 is nothing special... 6255 is a good improvement from 7200...the 128x160 screen is much more better than the 128x128.... however...why is there an antenna....so ugly... __________________ Wow... Seems they have remembered the Americas market exist... Look at the competition between Motorola and Nokia... New BT CDMA phones... Nice!! Now I don't know which to choose.. __________________ 6255... better than the 7200 as mentioned by tulang man... hehe... looking better.. =).. __________________ Do u think these phones will be available in Asia...as well as Malaysia?? __________________ Tu!@ng Man it's a CDMA phone, thats why there is still an antenna... some other CDMA phones still have antenna, something to do with the lenght __________________ errrmmm...sorry for my outdated....can u explain to me what is CDMA phone??...WCDMA???...3G??...GSM??....and etc.... __________________ it's a network technologie used in some country's like the americas. we use the GSM cellular infrastructure and they use CDMA... both has got there (dis)advatages... Technology Description Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) is a digital wireless technology that was developed by Qualcomm and uses a unique code to distinguish each different call which enables more people to share the airwaves at the same time. Commercial introduction dates back to 1995, and in 1999 CDMA was adopted as the basis for 3G wireless systems by the ITU. CDMA spreads the information contained in a signal over a much greater bandwidth than the original signal, a method that has been used by the military for many years. This was originally done to resist jamming efforts as well as hiding the fact that communications are taking place. It also breaks up speech into small digitized segments and encodes them to identify each call allowing for a large number of users to share the same band of spectrum. __________________ thanks for explaining... I just found that the 6255 is the first Nokia which has a screen of 128x160...what a nice improvement...I wish this bigger screen will be applied to all the series40 too in the future... __________________ Quote:
__________________ 7600?.. isn't that a series 60?... it's symbian right? __________________ Quote:
__________________ i think nokia is going those screens (128*160) more and more, especionaly for 3G capable phones... but we'll see more from that in the near future... __________________ 7600 is not series40...is series45...it is not a symbian phone...just 3G....useless in Malaysia.... and 6650 is not available in Malaysia...that is why i have no idea on it....sorry... __________________ Tu!@ng Man 7600 is series 40 there is no series 45 __________________ ok....as u wish....many people still consider it is series40...as long as u happy with it...but there is a series45... __________________ Quote:
And 7600 isn't useless in Malaysia. It's dualmode GSM/WCDMA phone, so it can also operate in normal GSM network. Same goes to 6650. __________________ But doesn't the 7600 have an os which looks like symbian?.. well. that's what i've always thought... __________________ Tu!@ng Man series 45 is unofficaly used for Nokia devices that has got an 128*160 screen and are 3G capable but Nokia just called them series 40. quote from forum nokia site (developers site nokia) "Series 40 phones implement a number of different user interfaces. The most common user interface in the family has a 12-bit (4,096) color display with 128 x 128 pixel resolution, as found in the Nokia 7210 mobile phone. Series 40 devices also include resolutions of 128 x 160 pixels (the Nokia 6650 imaging phone) and 96 x 65 pixels (the Nokia 3510i mobile phone). Other resolutions may be introduced in the future." __________________ dxreaper yes and no, you have a choice, 1. You leave the menu like it normaly is. the icons on one row down and when pushing down you get the other menu (like most nokia's). or 2. you get an 3x3 menuicons on one screen, so you can use the arrows to go down, left, right and up to go into another menu all in the same screen... __________________ 7600 is expensive like hell in Malaysia just because of it is a 3G phone...of course it works in Malaysia...but it is no point to have 3G here...if it is not built under 3G...definitely it will cost cheaper and I will go for it... __________________ in belgium the same, cost 550 Euro, sad, sad sad __________________ I really like 7600 design....so unigue...so far I haven't seen anyone holding a 7600....I think it is really too expensive... __________________ Tu!@ng Man 520 Euro is too much money for a series 40 phone. You can buy other mobiles with more features for that money... but it's the design/fashion series of nokia and those always cost a lot more... __________________ Have you seen the 7600 in real life?.. I saw one.. and I gotta say it looks cheap... especially the part which tries to be leather... __________________ Do You mean 7200 ? __________________ Aretee 7600 has bits of leather on it... __________________ but i thought n6255 is 65k TFT screen? __________________ The resolution of the primary display is 128 x 160 pixels, with 16-bit color depth (65K colors). When the device is closed, a secondary display is visible with a resolution of 96 x 65 pixels and 12-bit color depth (4K colors). __________________ krist....so far I am happy with my 6600...symbian is great...I mean I just like the design of 7600... I dun think that 7600 looks cheap...of course...Nokia is famous for plasticky looking...but 7600 design is unigue...I just...like the design...hehe __________________ Hmmm, interesting thread. I conclude some of you maybe work at N, since you post such detailed responses. Someone comments regards the 6255, "the screen is still small...why do nokia do this..." Does size matter? :-) OK, I will wander over to the window and see if any Finnish birds are chirping on this subject.. They disagree. It isn't small. This is at least an average size display in absolute (not relative) terms for a clam phone shipping into any region, except Japan, or possibly Korea. In relative terms (screen size/clam phone size) it is slightly undersized compared to best-in-class. Clam phone displays typically ship around 1.9" diagonal or smaller, but they are creeping up to 2.1" and 2.2" in the very high tier clams. In Japan however, they have gone above 2" some time ago - after all who wants to look at downloaded photos of super hot Japanese "Idol" girlz on a small screen! Let's guess and say the 6255's display is about 1.8" to 1.9" - not bad. If you want to take shots at the 6255 displays, start with the pixel map. Go figure. A 120x160 shipping into a market that is at QCIF+ in the mid tier, with QVGA displays starting to creep in in the high tier? For God sake, Moto shipped the T720 close to 2 years ago, and that had a 120x160 display of similar size, although it wasn't TFT. You gotta love Nokia for coming in with lagging-edge technology (which costs a lot less, and far easier to source in volume than leading-edge tech.). However, one has to ask: lately has the market given Nokia a kick-in-the-teeth message that it is tired of Nokia's lagging-edge technology? The display is TFT of course, but the optics (color strength, balance, and contrast) are not best-in-class. Compare this phone next to a v300/v600 family QCIF+ main display and you will see what I mean. In terms of display brightness, rumor is the 6255 main display is very well lit. The external display is not nearly as well lit, and suffers also from somewhat sub-par optics. Is it TFT? I don't think so. However, the phone is nice looking, far better than 7200. *chirp* *chirp* __________________ errrmmm...sorry for my outdated....can u explain to me what is CDMA phone??...WCDMA???...3G??...GSM??....and etc.... from what i know, the most common(GSM) phones are based on GSM technology which is mostly for relatively smaller areas of dense population(eg. like cities, which aren't big, but have lots of people in them). CDMA is for more widespread signals, and since north america is widespread population evenly all over it, CDMA is more popular as it works better over there W(wideband)CDMA is one of the few technologies that fuels 3G 3G is third generation mobiles which means video calling. However, the phone is nice looking, far better than 7200. matter of tastes really. I mean, the 6255, though it's CDMA, it's got an antenna, which IMO looks really ugly. Then, IMO, 7200 looks unique and quite cool. so, you cannot just state "far better than 7200" __________________ 'so, you cannot just state "far better than 7200" ' Hmmm, how do I like this latest play? The Mainframe protests too much, methinks. (protests any less-than-worshipful comment on the 7200, yes protests in posts here, and there, and everywhere!) Do you monitor the Forums 24x7 for any negative comments on the 7200, jumping out to post seconds after you figure the honor of this beast has been offended? You gotta be on the product team, OR you were crazy enough to buy one and now it is really starting to bother your pyche that few others were equally foolish? :-) __________________ no. i dont have one. and i didnt buy it because its nokias first flip. but i like its design. if you did not understand what i was saying, well, i was saying that not what you said was unreasonable, but rather, how you said it. you could've told everyone that you reckon it looks far better than a 6255 and i won't give a horse's hair. but you can't just state it as if it were a fact, and to prove its not a fact, i stated my opinion The Mainframe protests too much, methinks. (protests any less-than-worshipful comment on the 7200, yes protests in posts here, and there, and everywhere!) i protest too much? well tough luck. but if you think i protest too much against people who diss the 7200, i'm here to correct you. i don't. what i do is i open a thread of a title i find interesting, i read the comments, and reply to those comments or the root comment. is that not what you do, Birdie? read a thread and reply with your own thoughts and opinion? Do you monitor the Forums 24x7 for any negative comments on the 7200, jumping out to post seconds after you figure the honor of this beast has been offended? no, i don't. i'm not some maniac who searches for the 7200. and i don't monitor the forums 24x7. I HAVE A LIFE. and by the way, that chirping finnish whatever stuff is very annoying to me, just thought you'd like to know. Mavi forum |

about nokia 1100
Does anyone know if Nokia 1100 has ringer ID? I thought it didn´t, but in the review posted in this portal it says yu can assign different ringer tones to the entries in the phonebook (?). Anyone who can confirm/deny that for sure? I also would apreciate any information you´d like to give if you have already purchased this phone... Thanks in advance! __________________ it's possible to do that, you just has to assign that to the name in your phonebook... don't have to phone, but 90% for sure __________________ hey, you were right. ![]() Mavi forum |

6600 camera setting and problem...
What's the difference between High, Medium and Low in the camera photo quality setting?...I found that there is only difference in memory usage...High quality will gain more memory while Low will use less memory...I tried to capture some photos with High, Medium and Low setting...but I found that those photos are the same...any idea?? I found another problem with my camera setting...I tun on the camera and go to setting...when I switch the quality to Low...and then I switch the quality again to Medium...then I am unable to get back to the camera by pressing the Back button...I gotta exit and turn the camera on again....anyone experience this??? __________________ Due to different JPEG compression methods, there are three image quality options: High, Normal, and Basic. This affects the image quality and file size, not the resolution. If you use 1 MB of memory for images only, the Nokia 6600 phone would fit approximately 22 Normal quality images taken in Standard mode. a basic picture takes about 18Kb, a Normal 45Kb, and a High about 68Kb. in night modus more size is taken for a picture... __________________ For my 6600...a basic photo will take about 20kb....a normal one around 28kb....a high photo will just take about 35kb...why isit so much different from yours??? I still can't get the answer...usually I take photo in high quality...but today I found that the quality is no different between High normal and basic...so what is the point of using High quality?...what is the point of this option?...or there is different but I dun know?...who knows?? __________________ that is the way Jpeg converts data.... Imaging you take a picture of a red background (solid) the file will be only 5 Kb even less take a picture of a red curtin (more shades) more data needed to save the file and so on... if you have a picture of a red house, with blue sky, green grass and brown tree, yellow car etc you have more data. simple to explane; a image exicist out of pixels, every pixel excest out of data what the color of that pixel is, and the color is split into RGB (RED, GREEN, and BLUE) if R: 255 G: 255 B: 255 the color is white. if R: 000 G: 000 B: 000 the color is Black if R: 255 G: 000 B: 000 the color is Red if R: 000 G: 000 B: 255 the color is blue if R: 255 G: 255 B: 000 the color is yellow if R: 000 G: 112 B: 175 you have the color of the Nokia logo etc. so with these you can make almost every color. So in a RAW or TIFF image file every pixel is saved like xxx, xxx, xxx as R,G,B and so the image looks in data file like; 021,154,001:015,165,211:...,...,...:...,...,... and so one... but sometimes if some colors are the same and then the file will refer to them like a shortcut. imagine a image data file: 021,154,001:015,165,211:154,021,164:154,045,165:12 1,145,005:021,154,001:021,154,001:021,154,001:165, 244,112:...,...,...:...,...,...:... so the image editor will look at the code and it sees it has got the same data in the file 021,154,001 come alone 4 times 021,154,001 :015,165,211:154,021,164:154,045,165:121,145,005:021,154,001:021,154,001:021,154,001:165,244,112:...,...,...:...,...,...:... You see? ok, a Jpeg will refer to that color the next 3 times like this 021,154,001[1]:015,165,211:154,021,164:154,045,165:121,145,005:1 :1:1:165,244,112:...,...,...:...,...,...:... so instead of placing 9 ciffres it place 1, so less data this method is used in high mode, data is saved, but didn't changed colors. In Normal (medium) and (low) this method is used but they also look at colors the difference in color of a 102,135,255 (baby blue) and a 100,135,255 (baby blue but a little bit more brighter) is not very much and optical you don't notice the deference at first sight. so they merge the color both to 101,135,255. so they can use the first technigue to convert, and again data is less. in Low the range of colors merged is larger than in medium... i hope you understand now? __________________ Tu!@ng Man There is no reason why the pics should be the same. Maybe they only look the same on the phone? __________________ Of course with original picture squeezed to the small phone screen all of them would look the same. Try to zoom it up to 100% or compare those on PC - you'll see the difference. __________________ Yup...I compare all the photos in the pc...but after looking at it for about half an hour...I just found that...there is only different in the colour...in the basic quality...the colour may a little bit not as sharp as the one taken in High quality...that's all...it doesn't have any different in which one looks clearer... I try to zoom all the pics as much as i can...still found that there is only different in the sharpness of the colour...for example a wall which is blue in colour...the basic quality one looks lighter blue...and the high quality one looks a bittttttt deeper... Nothing to do with which one look clearer...all are blur in the same level....haha __________________ What you'd expect from a pinhead-size lens? To get crystal sharp stunning images you need big good optics in the first place. That setting makes sense only because of JPEG compression is lossy - smaller the size - more data gets lost. "Better quality" means here that you can get more data from the same image, though depending on image that extra data could be irrelevant for perceptional picture quality. __________________ I just wish to know what's the different between the setting....what's wrong?? I know it is just a VGA camera...however...I am satisfied with quality... __________________ Hello you two, You seem to know a bit about the 6600 I have a 6600 and i have bought a new memory card (128mb) I want to upload some small movie clips to my handset, like The Simpsons. I cant find a 3GP encoder/converter, do either of you know where i could download one? Thankyou, Dave __________________ the pc suit of 6600 will convert the clips itself to 3gp...but of course u have to set Convert all file type... anyway...3gp is very bad in quality...use 3rd party application like Smartmovie or Mobiclip to play in AVI file type...much better quality... My views on the 7610
Discussion about the Nokia 7610: In my view, the Nokia 7610 is a good phone. First of all, I like the small size (check out one of the photos with the T68i on the mobileburn.com website). Seems to be comfortable to fit in the pocket. Secondly, the 1 megapixel (!!!) camera will give good quality prints. I think the competitors to this feature are very few like the SE S700, Siemens S65, and some Tel.me 2.1 MP phone. The keyboard seems to be a bit weird looking, but after reading previews on many sites, the reviewers did mention that the keys were comfortable to use (unlike the confusing keys of the 3650). Plus it adds Reduced sized MMC cards, which I guess help in the phone’s small dimensions. I came to know from the Nokia site that the card comes with an adapter which can be used to use the card in phones with Standard MMC slots like 3650/3660/6600. So, they are backward-compatible. But I guess this RS-MMC is still a new type of memory and they’ll be expensive than normal ones. The pop-port gives USB connectivity and Stereo audio (Finally!!!). And the 64 MB card gives enough space to use the phone as an mp3 player. But, I am not sure how good this AAC format is. Nokia’s site mentions that one can store upto 1 hr of MP3 music or 2 hrs of AAC music. I mean, does it really cut the file size to half? And what about quality? Has anyone used this format? I guess the screen is the same as on the 6600. I don’t get it why Nokia decided to exclude Infra red. It would have blended perfectly with that black cover. Anyways, USB makes up for its loss. Another plus would be 8 MB dynamic memory. So one can play n-gage games without running out of RAM. Good to see that the RealOne player supports MP3 and AAC eliminating the need to install 3rd party software. No EDGE support is a bad thing. I know that it’s not a widely used technology till now, but if Nokia can put it in a el-cheapo cameraphone like the 3200, why can’t it on this one? Please feel free to post your views and opinions about this phone. __________________ Jørgen Sundgot from Infosyncworld.com You'd think they had enough Series 60 phones in the market to attract everyone, but Nokia thinks otherwise: the introduction of the 7610 brings with it a new level of style to the Finnish manufacturer's smartphone offering - and it doesn't skimp on features either, with a one megapixel camera, RS-MMC expansion. Sporting an unarguably quirky design, the 7610 looks like a stretched-out 7600 - yet offers no 3G features: GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz and GPRS is all there is, although in the name of all fairness that'll likely suit the market this particular handset is aimed at just fine. The strangest part of the handset would be its keypad, which swerves left towards the bottom, giving off the initial impression that left-handed users would be particularly happy with its design. It is, however, quite comfortable, unlike some other recent keypad design mishaps found in recent Series 60 smarthones, with the possible exception of the navigational pad which doesn't offer the best tactile feedback. Naturally, the camera of the 7610 is placed on the back, joined by a mirror embedded in the cover of the phone - which, incidentally, will let users personalize the handset to their heart's extent as both the front and back covers are exchangeable. The camera provided excellent results, although the frame rate of the viewfinder did not surpass that found in previous Nokia smartphones. Worse is it then, that the overly simplistic icons in the default theme of the 7610 are outright ghastly, although a quick change of themes will of course remedy this; it's a good thing themes for Series 60 handsets are becoming available in increasing numbers. With 8 MB of internal memory and a bundled 64 MB RS-MMC card, the 7610 should also be well equipped to store video, which it's capable of both recording and playing back. This is coupled with other interesting features such as Wireless Village-based instant messaging, and the usual full compliment of Series 60 applications. Overall performance seemed quite snappy, and and as a last bonus users also get USB connectivity in the 7610. __________________ The keypad sucks!!!! __________________ I dun think so...the keypad is ok...just maybe a little bit not comfortable while pressing them...cos of the different size of each button... but at least it is much better than the 3650 one...and the design of the keypad is compatible with the phone... __________________ it looks like a really nice fone __________________ i love its unique keypad design! __________________ the design and quality may not comparable with many other brands...but Nokia interface and functionality is always the best for me...I love Nokia smartphone...for the 7610...the most attractive function for me is the video recording length of 10 minutes...!!! __________________ Amazing Phone, Had For A While, But Now Upgrading To Nokia 7280, Please Post Your Comments About That If You Can Please At: http://www.mobile-review.com/forum2/...968#post192968 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Many Thanks, Harry2004 __________________ Harry2004, if I was a moderator I'd have given you a warning for brining up such an old mobile phone thread! Formating
I heard that smartphone can be formated and install a fresh / new copy of symbian. My question here is not only how, but also what are the gadget required too? Thanks in advance __________________ Symbian phone can be formated....but it is unable to reinstall another new Symbian...just after u format..u get the phone back to the original factory setting...just like our pc formatting.... However I dun know the way of formatting other symbian phone...I only know how to format a 6600... switch off the 6600....then press the GREEN DIAL KEY + *KEY + 3KEY....While pressing these 3 buttons...never move off your finger...press the start up button together too until the screen shows "Formatting"... After about 30 seconds...the 6600 will be formated...it is abit difficult to do it cos u gotto press four buttons at the same time while all the four buttons seperated very far away... __________________ In other word that is some sort of restoring too is it? As you mention once you "format" it then I will get the phone back to the original factory setting. __________________ don't you just delete all data from the memory card? __________________ Ya that was what I thought when Tu!@ang Man explained, so I just want to know whether there is such thing in formating (like PC) the 6600? How? Any tools required? __________________ Formatting, described above will format phone memory available for user settings thus reverting to original factory settings. It has nothing to do with memory card. MMC can be formatted using supplied application. System areas including OS are protected and can not be formatted with the phone. What would be the purpose of such formatting besides rendering phone dead? Much like PC it won't even boot without OS __________________ Would be funny if you could use an MMC to boot the OS, bring us back to the old days. ![]() __________________ MMC can be formatted by using the phone...it is an option format MMC in it... The way I mentioned above is not only get your phone back to the original factory setting...but it clears all the memory inside your phone too... For example...when u install thousands of application to your phone...and u delete them one by one...finally u will find that part of your memory has been used although all the items have been removed...or...there are some errors in your phone that annoying you...so...a fully format by the way I mentioned above will solve all the problems and u will have a "new" 6600 after a format is done... this is the best I can explain...hope u all understand lah... ![]() __________________ MMC in the phone is just an extra storage. You can't install fresh copy of Symbian simply because there is no way to get that copy. BTW, user area gets formatted too if you select "Restore factory settings" from the menu or using *#7370# (=res0) command __________________ the way *#7370# is a normal restore factory setting... the way i mentioned before...red dial key+*key+3Key+start up button....is a way of low level format...much more better... __________________ Quote:
Factory settings assume blank user area too. There's ain't no such thing as "low level format", Symbian file system is formatted in the same way. I believe you meant GREEN dial key, not red __________________ ya...green dial key....sorry for that.... I was told that the way I mentioned is much more better than the code *#7370#....then what's the different between these 2 ways?? __________________ What is low level format? What's the different between *#7370#? __________________ 3-key format just clears user area, all required folders are created on a subsequent boot. *#7370# also restores all factory settings (whatever you set in Settings menu). Technically those two are slightly different, but you won't see any other difference. Concerning "much better low-level format", making a parallel to PC, low-level HDD format can kill your disk beyond repairs (and warranty) nowadays, so you'd better think twice before attempting anything "low-level" __________________ I have formatted my 6600 for a few 10 of times by using the 3-keys way...so far nothing happen to it... __________________ There's ain't no such thing as "low-level format" in the phone, exposed to end-user __________________ so which one is better to use/? __________________ Format is always the same... I had a feeling that 3-key format should have been removed from official SW, but for some reasons or just someone's negligence remained there. Technically it is a vulnerability - everyone can destroy user data easily, unlike restore factory settings it is not even slightly protected by security code/PIN or whatever. Mavi forum |
