So Nokia's newest is called "Charlie", Nokia's 7210 was called Vanessa and if I am not mistaken Nokia's 6230 was called "Matrix"! What other prototype names have there been? Just for the fun of it! ![]() __________________ 6230 = "Morpheus" __________________ deerman, actually matrix __________________ EldarMurtazin, Are you sure ? What is "Morpheus" ? I was certain that "Morpheus" is 6230 , sry ![]() __________________ deerman Eldar is right, other than hearing and reading it myself, i can easilly tell it by looking at the graphite cover and the standard screen7.gif of mine. ![]() ![]() ![]() __________________ i may not be correct, but i think 6230 had a variation codenamed morpheus, not sure if it was for different region or something. __________________ deerman, sure, on our site was picture with this codename on 6230... but nokia ask to remove it... before launch of product of course it was __________________ 7600 was "Mango" __________________ so what is the name does the 7610 have ? __________________ I was recently able to access a beta version of pc suite V6.0.1. There was a number of new proto names memtioned: Astrix, Catalina, Charlie, Erin, Neo, Travbadix, Some we have seen before some we have not. ![]() __________________ I like the last one, Travbadix... just a very cool name. and none searchboxes can find it __________________ badger, Can you determine which of them use series 40, 60, 80, etc.? __________________ Quote:
I would assume that there are an even spread of s40 & s60 devices. Nokia are trying to fully intergrate there s40 & s60 Pc Suites, so the scope of support doesn't have to span such a wide range of software suites. The list also memtioned the 7610, 6620 & 7700. (amoung loads of other test units. 7200b for example) __________________ 7650 = Calypso __________________ and Neo for 7110? (Matrix 1) __________________ Quote:

6230a = Matrix __________________ jolo, Thx ![]() Hmm its funny because "Neo" is used by Siemens ,too __________________ What was the 3650 called? Duckbill? ![]() what are the namens of the 68XX series? __________________ So up to now we have:
__________________ 7110 is (was) NOT Neo... Don't you think that some models may not have a number yet, that is the point of a project name? __________________ Erin is the Communicator 9500 I also know Charlie, but can't remember the model name... It's silver; software much like Catalina. Gotta get back to you on that one. The project names are used to keep track for the developers/testers/engineers... @}--}--- Quote:
__________________ Charlie is 6630 ![]() __________________ Cameron = 3650 Linda = Communicator 9210 I had a program once which displayed the prototype-name of the device. But I'm not sure what it was. I think it was a cell-tracking program. Well, it displayed device "3650" and codename "Calypso" when it was running on my 3650... And maybe Travbatrix = Troubatrix (some guy from the asterix & obelix comic) __________________ WOAH! i never knew these things lol its so awesome to know ![]() ![]() btw, can anyone tell me why they give names to the prototype models at first? __________________ 7700='The Elephant Ear' ![]() __________________ Quote:
__________________ Shiranai, Think you might be right, I was franticly making notes before my Nokia man came back and its does make more sense that Travbatrix = Troubatrix. ![]() __________________ do you know the name of 6600? __________________ Nokia 6600 was Calimero Nokia 6260 was Lightning __________________ SE T610 was QuickShare winning Award __________________ It's time to make a new list...:
__________________ I guess you guys are talking abt official names... here in kuwait, in mobile phone shops, these are what some of the phones are known as: Kit Kat: 8310, Tiger: 3310, King: 6600 ![]() __________________ hey whats the name of the nokia 6600? isit really king? __________________ what are these names for? im soo st2pid __________________ The official name 4 the nokia 6600? __________________ flair77 did say king... wht is da name 4? __________________ 6600 is the panda in kuwit as i heared they have this stupid thing to call every model with a stupid name __________________ Cheecko, when the phone is in under development, mean when a co decides on a new phone (laying down the blue print and stuff) they dont give then codes like 6600,7610 ets right a way...they give them code names like these. matrix,king...w/e etc. for keeping it a secret, officials within the co refer to them (phones) with their names. __________________ immy, Officialy the Nokia 6600 under development was Calimero... The King is just a name given by phoneshops, but has got nothing to do with the names Nokia give to there phones... Nokia uses codenames to phone when they are in devellopment for several reasons: - to make it more secret (if a phone calles 6240 for example, and it leaks out, everybody know there is going to be a successor for the 6230; but if they call it 'Niobe' nobody know what type of phone it will be) - When a phone is under devellopment, nobody really know how the model will be numbered (7600, 7710, ...), this is a pure commercial naming, being done just before launch... You see in rumors that the names changes. It's not even sure the 7710 will be called the 7710 on launch... -... __________________ hitman, Look at my avatar, don't you think it looks like Nokia 6600? ![]() __________________ lol ^^^^ But i prefer the real one... ![]() __________________ kristof.vanriet, ![]() __________________ Oh I confused now totally with a writing error: Travbadix = Troubadix (not -batrix) and its this guy: __________________ kristof.vanriet Numeric model codes look much more cryptic to me ![]() I really doubt it has anything to do with secrecy. Moreover what is successor or predeccessor of what can be only decided after sales start - phones are not coming out in order of their model number. I think you are trying to find a meaning where there is none. Every project or task in any industry have a codename just to address it somehow. Actual commercial outcome usually has very little to do with original project. Project may have whatever name - just disctintive enough, while commercial product must follow some marketing rules in order to be successful on the market. Thet is why the same brand could have a different name for a different market (I bet everybody knows the story of Chevrolet Nova when it'd hit spanish-speaking market) __________________ 3310 = el zebala __________________ Nokia 3999=Weetabix __________________ Wake up, thread! ![]() 3310 - Beetle 2600 - Tongbao 6610i - Speedy Can't remember more at the moment, but I'll get more if you'd like... __________________ Jade, wow! u really dug it up ! lol __________________ Any really fan here! ![]() I've got some free time, collect them: http://peterace.tar.hu/Type.doc The biggest FAN! ![]() Mavi forum |
