6230... once more

Hey, a couple of questions:

* Does anyone know how fast the transfer rate to the phone is, using the datacable? For instance if I want to transfer a song using it, will it take 2 hours or 2 minutes?

* Does the phone support third-party games? Like gameboy emulators and such? Or is it only for Symbian phones?

* When playing mp3's, does it drain as much battery as when calling someone?

(and finally)
* Will there be an extra battery for it? With longer lifespan?

Hopefully I've written so you all can understand.

1. datacable: i don't know, this is what nokia sais Support of high-speed data connectivity with USB properties through Pop-Port interface system connector compatible data cable

2. yes, they support 3th party games and programs but on the Java platform, not symbian...

3. off course the battery will drain, but not that fast...

4. the only Nokia original battery is 850mAh, so mayby in future or from another batterycompany... be carefull when you buy those, we all read things about exploting battery's. Most of them are from other company's

ok thanks. so usb 2.0 or what? hopefully the speed is moderate at least... maybe a card reader is better?

java games, ok. so no real "programs", if I may say so?

i heard the speed is not that fast, indeed a card reader is much faster...

yeah. filling 256mb of music using usb can take a while...
I can't wait for the phone to be released... i think it's time. now! tomorrow! go nokia... heh.

btw do you think it'll be possible to install symbian or whatever? for more advanced programs? or is that reserved for smartphones only?

No, that is absolutly impossible, due to technical stuff...
It needs more memory and more CPU power that an series 40 phone... so only smartphone platform...
BTW symbian / series 60 need also a bigger screen.
Mayby if you are a very good programmer it's possible, but you'll going to have a lot of word and rewriting the source code

Oh ok, nevermind then.
But that's the only thing I can think about that's bad with this phone. It sure looks awesome!
You thinkin of getting one as well?

yeah, i think so, but the 5140 doens't look bad also, i still doubt...
i like the design of the 6230 very much, looks stilish and fits me more than the 5140... i'll will decide later...

sorry for the following (maybe lame) questions, but:
- can you shortly point out the main differences between smart-phones and the rest?
- smart-phone means mandatory enhanced with symbian OS and viceversa?
- which can be the disadvatnages of 6230 because it doesn't have symbian os?""

ps: pls don't send me to http://www.symbian.com/ ;-)

If your card reader is USB - it's all the same. PCMCIA adapter is surely faster.

Smart-phones are running 2 OS-es - one for applications (not necessarily Symbian, could be e.g. Linux) and one for the phone.

Lack of Symbian could be an advantage - it could make a jolly good phone - sometimes you need to make phone calls too :-)
