Could not install applications to Nokia 6600

I just got my Nokia 6000 yesterday. I downloaded some trial versions of applications (eg. Worldmate from MobiMAte's website) but when I transfer the sis file to my Nokia 6600 via infrared, the installer would run but immediately exits back to my inbox. I could not install the application. Although I could install and run some other applications. I could not also install Psiloc applications. Is there anybody here that have any idea what's wrong? Is there an incompatibility with the applications and my phone?

I just got my phone yesterday and I need to check for applications that i could run on it. My phone is on V 4.09.1 26-02-04 NHL-10.

Thank you.

I think Psiloc apps never worked on 6600...
There are some compatibility issues between 6600 running Symbian 7.0s and older applications designed for Symbian 6.x phones. 6600 does what is called "best effort" to run legacy apps...

BTW, Worldmate works fine for me - I copied downloaded file to MMC card and then started installer with FileManager

I managed to install applications thru PcSuite but the drawback is that I can't remove or uninstall applications.

Any ideas? This phone is starting to get on my nerves.

as a last resort you can resore factory settings or format user area ...
probably you'll re-gain your ability to install/uninstall, but you'll loose your data, so backup somehow first

Once you know how everything works on a symbian phone you be pleased... In the beginning it's just looking how everything works out...
A very good tip is reading the userguide... they give it with you for a reason, everything is explaned in it...

but if you don't wanna look it up or if you are to lazy, here is a part copy-paste from user guide about removing a program;

Removing an application (Application Manager)

1. To remove an application, scroll to it and select Options¡ú Remove.
2. Press Yes to confirm the removal.
Important: If you remove an application, you can only re-install it if you have the
original application or a full backup of the removed application. If you remove an
application, you may no longer be able to open documents created with that
application. If another application depends on the application that you removed,
the other application may stop working. Refer to the documentation of the
installed application for details.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Kristof! I'm starting to believe that you are not really from nokia. hehehe (joke only)

Of course I used the application manager (unless there's another way of uninstalling an application that i don't know).

When I remove an application (using application manager), a window opens up saying removing.... then immediately exits back. It won't just go.

Anyway, I'll try to format this nice piece of **** and if that did not work, maybe a nokia service center is my last resort.

Seriously, I still do love this phone! (except for the not so really nice and not loud enough speakers).

Thanks guys!
