Got 6230. short review

alrite got my 6230
lookin great! got that callre groups bug, fixed immediately using a restore to factory settings

all the usuals. mp3 player is very nice, same with stereo FM. I ADORE the loudspeaker.

camera... viewfinder is so cool, really. but for some damn reason after you take each photo its like the effect you see on some sites some examples of 6230 photos shown on those sites (dark colours...)

but relatively the video recorder is great.

easy menus... but when you're in grid and you hit the number menu you wanna goto, the selector takes you there but the menu doesn't open...

as in when you enter menu and hit 6 or whatever, it doesnt open the menu straight away.

some bad points i gathered:

keypad starts off crunchy. but after using it for a while(just like 10 minutes!) you get used to it.

REALLY BAD POINT: so damn hard to take the back cover off. especially with the battery inside. very annoying. but now i got the hang of the tricks... it's not TOO bad. still annoying though.

i'll be testing it over these days... eg. its "silent error", "mmc stuffz" etc etc... tell you if there are any bugs

for the meantime i took some pics with the 6230. THEN i took some pics, but not too good, using the T610, of the 6230.

Thank you for your contribution, I think the only way to put the pics in one post is to store them onto a server and directly link them.
The 6230 seems to take really good pics from close, but from far, its pretty average by the looks of the pics.

From picture(6), I can obviously tell this is Cmos. I think Nokia 6230 uses Cmos 330K. Am I right? The noise in low loght creates blue and kinda greenish shift.
T616, according to my experience, has terrible camera.

What a stupid question.

"T616, according to my experience, has terrible camera."

Sure it has a CIF resolution not VGA resolution think befor you posting.

And Nokia does not use C-MOS chip or CCD features other wise was the 6230 very expensiv.

but for a CIF camera the t610 is really bad. Even if u compare it to pics made by other phones with a CIF-camera.

and he didn't ask a question, he made a comment. So i don't think you should insult the person by saying he/she is stupid because it's obvious who the stupid one is.

And afaik nokia does use cmos camera's in their phone. CCD would indeed be too expensive but cmos isn't !

If it's not using CMOS or CCD then what it is using??

Dcell T610 is mad terrible. I think it is even better not to have camera on T610, seriously.
BTW, Nokia usually use cmos. or what we call cif. Cif is a type of Cmos. Low end of Cmos. Cmos have two types. High-end, which are used for professional SLR cameras (very expansive. As expansive as 10000$) or low-ends.
Even in the low-ends, there are ones which are comparable to ccd, and ones which just sucks. Nokia has many suppliers of camera module, they usually ship ones which are the "left-over". That's why Nokia cameras are not great. Same to the lcd's.

i know the cif camera of t610 is bad. I once did a test with my cousin. He owns a t610 and i used to own a 7250. My 7250 made some decent quality pics. The t610 couldn't reach that quality.

What?? are you serious!....I used the t610 for a while, and I also Used 7250i for a while too....and belive me the camera in the t610 is waaaay better than the one in 7250i!!

7230 is bad. I cannot compare my T616 with 7230. I've never used 7230.
But i know that T616 has a useless camera. At least, I can say T616 is almost blind. very disappointed. But other features are good. I like my new phone, although not as much as my previous stolen phones which were megapixel ccd's.
The spec of 7250 convinces me that it is NOT descent. I can't think that it would be better than T616, although T616 is not good either. 7250, according to specs, is not better than T616. I agree with bu_7assooon .
But T616 doesn't have a good camera either though

The T610 doesnt have a great camera, but its acceptable from such a small phone with loads of features and dont forget t610 is not new and its camera still better then 6230.

i still cant find GPRS settings

btw... i made a mistake lol i put image quality to high but then i did factory reset and those pics i took were normal... gunna upload high ones shortly

heres a few more comments

i still love the loudspeaker. but pressing down into the middle of the dpad still annoys me a little, even though i have small fingers. the backcover thing has been solved, i now got the hang of it.

and once in a while there's a bug(not fatal), for example sometimes it says after i take a picture "saving image" and doesnt stop, but when i hit any button it says "image saved", but only happens once in a while

BIG COMMENT: THE GAMES TOTALLY CAN KISS MY A**, THEY SUCK!!!! beach rally is okay, but gets boring quickly

golf is complicated and annoying

chess puzzle is for geeks, and i m not a geek.

i m gonna download some from optus

i cannot find how to put the time and date on always, i couldn't find that in display settings nor time and date settings. so there is some problem of managing phone settings...

now some good points!

video is great. very very great and fun. take something at different angles(pause it, move and continue filming) for up to 4 minutes. great quality too! in sound especially

memory space is heaps and its great!!!

Manual is German. hate that

phone looks very slick! cool!!!!

it looks really small in reality by the way. smaller than average series 40 phones, even if it isn't, it just LOOKs like it.

screen is very sufficient, though wouldn't have minded a bit bigger. but very sufficient and good quality

still loooove the loudspeaker, i think you heard me the first time

cool backlight

i don't get playlists. i transferred a playlist to the phone... and then it still plays 1 - then stops, then you have to scroll down, play it yourself. then stops after it finishes.

good radio reception. but i m still really worried how it can damage my body and system... the headphones are antennas?!?!?!?! that freaks me!!!!

CIF has nothing to do with CMOS. CIF stands for "Common Intermediate Format" that ITU has originally defined for videoconferencing format. CIF uses 352x288 resolution, but it also defines other values like fps. CIF is often used to indicate the resolution of the image that camera module can produce, but it has nothing to do with CMOS itself.

saying that as a SE fan ? i don't think i can believe you because i've seen it with my own eyes. On the phone display the pictures look better on t610 ( because it's obvious the screen on the t610 is way better then the 7250 screen ). But when i transferred the pics to my pc, they both weren't very good but the t610 pics were worse then the 7250 pics

Mainframe AI is the new pictures 7250? If so, then the picture quality seems alot better than T616, although it is not supurb.

orange
yeah, my mistake. I was trying to say CIS=Contact Image Sensor=type of CMos(Complementary Metal Oxide0)

even on the screen, T610 seems poor. very dull. there should be a autobalance firmware upgrade.

???? wat da? all this discussion about 7250 etc...

anyway no it isnt its still 6230

all the pics in this thread, if shown as "picture(x)" is from T610, if shown as "imagexxx" is nokia 6230...

anyway, i got the settings done and also found out a few things such as continuous mp3 playblack(so stupid of me to look in the gallery... its music player in media!)

taken use of the video camera which is really cool by the way

but personal preference here, i would have preferred tin grey
