New nokia phones? I heard something about a new 8xxx series?

I have read that there will be some new 8 series phones, but have not seen any pics...Anyone know anything?

Here are some things he wrote down:
8920 will be worthy, the shape is very new and very interesting (as i stated, it is not rectanglish
the lower 8xxx is like K700, part plastic with metal bits that look flashy, and is smaller still. It is unlikely they will change the design now, but screens etc can always change

a lot of confusion from my sources have come from fact that there's *both* premium EDGE and 3G models, and often i've assumed making one cancelled the other, when it did not. For all I know there could be both a 8220 and 8300. The EDGE ones still are 128x128 and small as described in my first thread and still likely to be released alongside the new types.
Sideway clams would be an interesting idea, don't you think?

I also heared there was a 8100 and a 8800 that could have 65k, Bluetooth, EDGE !! Didn't hear anything about 3G.

8100 was early referrel to 8220, im fairly certain they will release this and many similar i have seen, they are all gsm/edge. nokia won't have many 3g videophone launch models, or at least won't be showing most of them for a long time, just a few end of year (despite many proto). it's good to think of it in the same way 7650 was introduced as first MMS phone, and they still had lots of gsm phones (8910 etc) release same time. There will be at least 1 3g "power" model, and if they get the hardware ready, the other 3g ones will come very fast after, although with more mainstream technology (smaller screen, leaner OS). I'd imagine they will announce new models very soon after 6230 and 7200 sales saturate, they (gsm edge models) are not much different at all in features, just styling and size.

junkymailer, where did you hear this from?

some also say 6230i will be based on a new UI that Nokia is introducing soon(i believe the UI, but not that 6230i is based on it)

in my opinion there are just some people too crazy abou t6230 that theyre making stuff up about a 6230i

6230i on symbian? haha
There's plenty of updates to 6xxx line, including something that resembles a updated 6230, it is very likely this will be called 6240 - basically the 62xx line is their "tech update" line, intended to be updated every 6 months to keep nokia ahead in technology (which has been big area for complaint). afaik the menu system will be the same, mostly a cosmetic update. 6840 may be announced same time with same features plus keyboard. The clams with updated menu system (apart from the series 40 8xxx updates) may be more interesting, the UI is something I have not seen before and will surprise a lot of people, I'm almost certain they will call this series 50 or something - in addition to clams i did mention earlier (1-2- initial 3g) there now seems to be a few more higher end ones gone into planning, which may use an updated series 60 (possibly 8600 line) and if they work fast they will be released this year too. As I've said, there *will* also be many normal edge small handsets based on 6230 foundations, all worth waiting for.

9500 is ok update, keys on inside are worse but not bad, screen improved, outside same as 6230, quite slim for what it does, and looks nice, if a little plasticky. I would have preferred a more conservative design. Feedback from outer buttons and speakerphone is first class however, best of any phone I have used.
