Will everything be erased if I upgrade the firmware of 6600?

Hi, just here to find out will everything be erased if I upgrade the firmware of 6600? What i mean is the files and programs stored on my 6600, will they all be wiped out if an upgrade of firmware is performed? __________________ normaly the Nokia service center back-up's your phone memory, but it's always possible something is erased...
