is it possible to transfer pics via email ??

Hi, I am planning to go for Nokia 6610/ Samsung X100, but is it possible to transfer images to phone via email. In my country (India), Orange( HUTCH) offers email to phone service, so is it possible to send a mail and attach a pic in that, and then save that pic in the phone. is this possible.pls let me know if any1 has tried this. also is there any difference between the image format, polyphonic ringtone format supported by NOKIA 6610 and Samsung X100. if i go for samsung x100, will it be possible to send images/ ringtones from my friends nokia to my samsung ?? thanks and best regards.
