Got my 3200 today, and very happy with it as a replacement for my ageing 7210. One note is that on the screen saver bar that shows a digital clock I also get a key icon, which is obvious, and a telephone icon the same as the one that is shown when in a call. Any ideas why this telephone icon is shown? Software Version V a3.12 19-11-03 RH-30 (c) Nokia Thanks __________________ This means you have a missed call you havent cleared. If there was a message symobl it would mean you had a message in the inbox. __________________ This must be a bug then as I did have a missed call but have cleared it from the standby screen... Good old Nokia and there poorly tested firmware, took me 30 mins to spot this one. If this is the only bug I suppose it's not that bad. __________________ I've worked it out. If you click View when you've got a missed call you don't get the icon on the screen saver bar. If you clear a missed call you get the icon on the screen saver until you enter Call Register and Missed Calls. Suppose sensible in a way, as you never looked who you missed the call from, just like if you clear a new message received it still keeps the envelope on the standby and screen saver screens. __________________ thats the same as on my 3100... __________________ That's no bug! It tells you, you have a missed call, when in screensaver mode. A bug, LOL! When you get an SMS it will show you an enveloppe and if you have both (also missec cal) it will show phone and enveloppe. And if it's lockeck and on silent, you have 4 icons in the clock-bar. __________________ I agree now it's not a bug, although it is inconstant with the standby screen which does not show an icon for unread missed calls. I can give you a bug, if you select Set As Wallpaper to an image in the Gallery it regularly sets the Wallpaper setting to off so you get a white screen, if you turn it back on again it will be the file you selected. __________________ Please dun always complain that bugs in Nokia's software....it may only some user friendly functions that you are not understood....!!!! __________________ There is nothing user friendly about selecting 'Set to Wallpaper' from an image opened in the gallery when this then promptly turns off the wallpaper but does assign the correct file if you turn it back on. As for the comment I started the forum with, I did jump the gun, although this feature is not documented in the user guide. As for bugs in Nokia software there always seem to be silly obvious ones that are missed like the wallpaper issue above. Maybe Nokia should make firmware's user installable like on digital cameras. __________________ I never had that wallpaper "bug" as you mentioned. Also, on standby mode, it does give you a missed call warning, no icon, why an icon? It says it all over you screen x MISSED CALLS. __________________ If you read my post you'd see that if you clear (opposed to read the number of the missed call) it still remains on the screen saver bar, until you enter call register and look at missed calls. As for the wallpaper bug what software version do you have *#0000# on your phone, I have V a3.12. Neil __________________ Hmmm seems I don't have both. (so if I clear it, it's gone on screensaver bar) I.E. I do not have an N3200 but a N6100, but I was like....it's all the same for all Nokia's operating with that software BUt okay, the 3200 is newwer and it'll probably be fixed in later firmwear versions. __________________ mrzippy With regard to your comments on firmware, I think Nokia want a greater hold over who has, is using and is repairing there phones, just think, every call to Club Nokia to ask “Where is my local Club Nokia Service Point” will be logged. Your Name, Address, Age, Phone Model, IMEI etc will be taken. Also when you take your phone for a warrenty repair IMEI & Name will also be taken. So imagine all the data Nokia can pull from the databases, what phone appeals to what type of person? Age of person and the Phone model they have? Phone popularity to geographic areas? This will all help when designing and planning new phones & marketing campaigns will work allot more efficiently. i.e. phone that sells allot more to school children, they will advertise the newer model on bus stops near schools! Try to look at the bigger picture, not just what’s the easiest measure for us customers!!! mrzippy I have seen this "Bug" and im sure it will be fixed in a later version of Firmware. You can get round it by going: Settings > Display > Background Image. Turn background image off then on again and it will ask you to select an image which you wish for the wallpaper. It doesn’t happen all the time and is a strange one. |
