Installing Application cause Symbian to crash?

I was planning to purchase the Nokia 6600, but I met one technician before that. He told me few drawback of 6600.

1.) Have some problem with its MMS as Msia operator haven't upgrade their WAP to WAP2.0 yet

2.) If I installed some improper software it will cause the phone to hang and will restart again and again. And to fix that I need to take to other people and the cost will be rm100++ per service.

So can anyone of you please clarify this matter to me as whether how true it is?

Ya right...MMS and GPRS WAP setting will having some problem in Malaysia...cos WAP2.0 is too new...Malaysia is so outdated...anyway...u can take your 6600 to the centre and ask for the WAP GPRS and MMS setting...it is ok to use it...

For the second question u asked...I think the technician is knowing nothing about symbian phone and just telling some nonsence...ya right...a lot of applications will cause some clashes to the 6600...but most of them can be solved by yourself...no need to have a service out there...just read thorugh some professional 6600 forum and u will found a lot of solutions....

so far I am happy playing around with my 6600...at first i was having a lot of problem too...but I didn't take for service for once...all the problems are solved by myself by reading through some forums....

dun worry too much...6600 is a great phone...just buy it...if u have any problem just post the problem here...and we all are always here to help...

It is simply amazing what kind of bull you can get from completely incompetent people, moreover - they manage to convince someone else to believe that...

And you know, some people really pay whatever they say just for 3-key format :-)

don't install apps designed for earlier Symbian 6.x phones (7650, 3650 ...) as well as old MIDP 1.x java apps and you gonna be fine

hmmm... i had install some apps designed for earlier Symbian 6.0 for my N6600....

Then just get ready, old apps can actually screw up your 6600, but not terminally, there won't be any need to call service.Ever.
I believe that with SW upgrade more old apps will work without problems on 6600

in order to install the software safely...u gotta use the pc suit to send the .sis files to your phone...so it won't affect the inbox...

some of the softwares may cause clashes...but many of them are stable and fine...so far I have thousands of software which are stable and run smoothly in my 6600...

D-off...."dun because of one tree then u give up the forest..."

I'd say memory card is the best way to install apps, less points of failure.

My advice was for those who really got terrified by the 2) in original posting, if you know what you are doing - do whatever you want. I only tried to point out what could possibly cause any glitches. I know many ways to screw up 6600 by an app... unfortunately many of those were perfectly fine for older Symbian 6.x phones
