Been using this phone since friday, and it's amazing! If you have any doubts about wether this phone is worth the wait or not, I'd say squash the doubts and wait for it. It has it all! A perfect phone, with no problems or hiccups, as many rumours have been stating. And the supply is plenty too, where I work we been receiving phones continuously for the past week, peaking about 20 sales a day ![]() Way to go Nokia! __________________ is there any problem with the bluetooth cause another member said that he cannot pair with his ipaq can you please clarify this doubt and also see if there are any problems while pairing with BT headset thanks in advance __________________ errrmmm...I care about the sreen...how is the screen quality and performance compare to 6600?? does it support truetones??? how about the quality of video streaming??... __________________ So far we have not experienced any problems with the bluetooth connection. Not to a bluetooth headset (nokia and SE) nor to laptops. Haven't had a chance to test the connection up to any ipaq yet. The phone in general however is very stable and I have no concerns recommending it to other people ![]() __________________ The screen in itself is 128x128, but it has a true tft screen with 65k colors. In general the phone has a great screen if the 128x128 size doesn't bother you. I would say the 6600 has a better size and it's more relaxing on the eyes in the long run I think, but it's prolly just a thing you need to get used to. The quality of video streaming is good. It's not the greatest, it's not like it's taken with a 5megapixel cam, but it's good enough to capture a great video clip and record a good laugh ![]() As far as the truetones go, I haven't had a chance to test'em myself, cuz I use mp3's as my ringtones. But I'll check it out and give ya a feedback on it. __________________ What about Music player for MP3 files ? Do you have MMC? __________________ And how long does your battery last? __________________ yes it has an mp3 player, plays MP3 and AAC, and it does have a 32MB MMC card ![]() __________________ my battery lasted for 4 days. That was with intense use of camera, mp3 playing, radio and making several long phonecalls. So I'm very happy with the battery capacity. __________________ That is excellent!!! I think that you can use 3rd party MMC because I use them with SX1 and Nokia 6600 and they work just fine! __________________ I KNOW for a fact that you can use 3rd party MMC cards, my co worker did it today ![]() __________________ I just read on alt.cellular.nokia that some people dont have caller groups, what about your phone? __________________ Igor82 this is indeed a know bug, but already repaired in the lastest sw version... __________________ expansys.com: "the problem with the caller groups can be resolved by doing a reset. (return to factory settings). Afterwards the caller groups will work properly." http://www.expansys.com/forumthread....8417&thread=19 __________________ How many threads do we need on the 6230?? ![]() __________________ I have caller groups on mine, so as stated, the problem has probably been fixed by now ![]() The edge, as many as possible, cuz the phone is rawckin! ![]() __________________ Have You tested battery life only MP3 playback? __________________ wow...sounds greater than my 6600...wish to have one instead of my 6600...hehehe __________________ can not wait ![]() __________________ i heard the colour screen of n6230 is very "cramp" inside... the picture is not clear enough to be a TFT screen... is it ture? __________________ __________________ [QUOTE...I'm not sure Nokia has a way of knowing wether a 3rd party MMC card has been used or not..
It would be very easy to find this out. Maybe phone has some potential vulnerabilities, e.g. malicious code on accordingly formatted MMC - that is why they take no responsibility for 3rd party cards. Of course they'd work fine. __________________ of course can't aspect too much from 6230 screen...but it will perform muh better than u think that it is cramp...it is just a 128x128.... __________________ beside the size (which is "only" 128x128) is there any difference between 6230 and 6600 (or any other super-phone) in areas like: - image quality of its screen - pics quality viewed on its screen - pics quality downloaded and viewed on PC ?? imho it should not be... the number of colours is the same (65K)... what other settings could be different? camera quality? i saw (on other forums) pics taken by this 2 phones and the quality seems to be the same... and about the screen size I think is very well compensated by the size of the phone !!! it is still a phone (confortably in the pocket) not a "hudge and ugly easter egg" like 6600... i can hardly wait some contra-opinions, but well documented about image & photos quality comparison and what about OS used by 6230? maybe it is not Symbian like 6600 which means that unfortunately is not a smart-phone like 6600... __________________ ThreeD please do us(/me) a favor, change the mp3s on the 128mb mmc into ringtones and see if it works __________________ 6600 is Series60 (Symbian) and 6230 is Series40 (proprietary) phones, which makes them TOTALLY different. You can debate which one you like more or less, but direct comparison would not be valid. Compare then Communicator with e.g. 3310 - one is big, the other is small, but does it mean anything? Again for those who didn't get it still: 6230 is NOT a Symbian phone __________________ Quote:
well many other manufators are able to squeeze in a bigger screen in a small candybar. Quote:
It is more than just looking at the number of colours. __________________
Originally posted by grabben well many other manufators are able to squeeze in a bigger screen in a small candybar. But at the expense of the keypad, which is one of the most used and important parts of the phone. __________________ Junker T630 has a good keypad, and the screen is alsow a very important part of the phone. __________________ I understand the screen is important but I can live with 6230 screen, the T630 has better keypad than T610 but stil a bit close. I do think its a good phone though, I really wanted T610 before I tried the keypad. I think looks wise it is one of the best! __________________ Quote:
but i meant what are the main advantages of 6600 against 6230 due to this OS difference __________________ Quote:
The difference is like between a game concole and a computer: one can play game(s) (probably very good games) and the other can play games AS WELL as do something else useful. OS for running apps is what it makes "smart", makes 6600 a PDA with phone capabilities (or phone with PDA if you will). Please note that Symbian apps you can run, have interfaces to all phone functionalities, don't limit the scope by games only. 6600 could be anything from IR-remote for your TV to a sophisticated answering machine, maintaining white/black lists, making appointments in the calendar, sending emails for you etc... All you need is to install an application. Well, java support provides some kind of flexibility for non-Symbian devices, but it is far more limited. __________________ Mainframe AI works just fine using mp3's as ringtons on a 128MMC ![]() __________________ can the facia/housing on 6230 changeble? __________________ righto thanks dude what brand mmc is it? __________________ 6230 housing is changeble.... and the photo quality takenby 6230 is better than the 6600....this can prove by taking a photo with far scene...once I saw a photo comparison on a website...now I am searching for it...will post the both photo soon... __________________ how much is it with vat, and please state the currency ![]() i'm so looking forward to buying this phone, loved it from the first day nokia announced its 'release', about 3 months+ ago ![]() it hasnt arrived yet in my country. (Cyprus) __________________ i saw a comparison on this french site also 7200 camra = 6230 camera = 7600 camera on threegmobile.net, 7200 camera kills 6600 camera therefore 6230 kills 6600 camera __________________ Which french site? In fact: 7600 better than 7200 7200 as good as 6600 and 6600 kills 6230 !! You can find a lot a pics taken mobiles in the last pages of this thread You can judge by yourself... ![]() __________________ by the way, can i zoom in and view the pic after i taking the shot? __________________ i forgot, cuz i deleted my history some time ago have you not checked threegmobile.net? the 7200 pics ... actually wait i ll get the link http://www.threegmobile.net/international/index.html i dont know where i got 7200 = 6230, but somewhere i heard their cameras were of the same production unit. bear in mind the prototype 6230 camera is horrible __________________ i found the site... and the latest page says 6600 > 6230 www.planete-nokia.com i stand corrected frm many of the pics i see the problem - 6230 is so pale for some reason... those "pale" days might have been sunny, but 6230 turns it all pale __________________ but the translated page had previously said on its 6230 test "The quality of the photos is excellente: once on the PERCENT, the quality is as good as on the Nokia 6650, 7600 and 7200 and good so, otherwise better than the Nokia 3650/7650/6600 (and therefore better than the one of the Sony Ericsson P800/P900)." __________________ I have done a lot of survey in the photo comparison.... so far I found that 6600 has the worst VGA camera among Nokia... photo taken by 6230 is much better than the one taken by 6600...this can prove by taking the far scene photo with 2 phones...6230 photo is much clearer than the 6600 one...but 6600 wins in photo colour sharpness... so far i think most people would prefer a clearer photo rather than a colourful but blur photo... __________________ Quote:
Examples of pics taken with: - 6230 - 7600 - 6600 - 7200 Found on Nettelecom.org. __________________ on those pictures the 7600 has got the best quality, but pictures aren't taken on the same day (other lighting) so you can judge it by that __________________ Quote:
![]() __________________ take a look at those photo seriously...and u will found that photo taken by 6600 is the blurest....too bad....look like there is gas around...among the photo...7600 wins... following by 7200...6230 and 6600... __________________ Quote:
hi!guy, would you tell me what disadvanage 6230 has? how about the pic quality taken by 6230? thanks! ![]() __________________ I can't believe you are actually discussing this seriously! What is the point to compare one crappy camera with another and trying to find the crappiest one? With this size and capabilities EVERYTHING matters, e.g. fingerprints on lens cover could make the piucture EXTREMELY blurry. Afterall all the phones in question could use exactly the same camera module (HW), the only difference is the software... and "better" SW just makes it look better (subjectively), the quality (objectively) remains the same, since CCD has not change! Don't try to convince others that what you like (subjectively) is really better. :-) Mavi forum |
