YES! Nokia 6230 with 512MB MMC works like a dream!

Just got the 512MB MMC i ordered in house, and it works on the 6230!!

When i first formated it in the phone, it turned up with only 80,2MB... I took it out and formated it with 8k block size, and filled it up with 399MB of mp3's. It still says it is only 80,2MB total space, but it also say 399,1MB used and 90,7 free.

This is sooo cool!

i want to use another normal headset for listening to music, not the crapy nokia ones! I'll cut the cable after the mic, so that i can still use the handsfree to talk in, but can use headphones of my own choise. Having a mini-jack also enables me to play mp3's from the phone on other devices. Like when I'm in the mountain fishing, i can connect the phone to the old stereo rack in the cabin. Thats a nice feature!

What MMC brand did you get?

HOWEVER

a few questions

first of all, what brand MMC?
second of all, try setting an mp3 from the MMC as a ringtone. Does that work out?
third of all, with the mp3 from the MMC as a ringtone, set the profile to silent. Does that work out?

Cheers dude

The MMC brand is Memory Corp.

I've modded the HDS-3 now, and it works great. Have tested the mp3-player with some bigass sony studio reference headphones, and the sound is good (lacks a little on the top end, but the bass is nice and strong. The lack in the top end can be adjusted with the EQ). Overall i'm very happy with this phone as an mp3-player.

The only thing I miss, is a way to make playlist without adding every song on the MMC, and a way to play songs thats stored in folders on the MMC. When I'm going to sleep I dont wanna listen to hard techno, so it would be nice to have a way to make different playlists. I do not know if that can be done with the phone suite... anyone know?

As for the mp3-ringtone-silent bug, i havent tested that yet... but if its a bug, I'm sure my phone is no different than the rest.

Edit: Just for the record, the 512MB MMC does take some time to browse on the phone, compared to the 32MB standard. Thats because all the mp3 is in the root folder, and the phone have to read through the root folder every time you open the MMC. It would have been better if you could place mp3's in folders, and play them from within those... But it works okay anyway.

yeah so could you please check out some mp3 ringtones set from the MMC

Nah, mp3 ringtones from the MMC doesnt work, and i think it's because it would take to long time to access the MMC when you got an incoming call... I think it deliberate... but I'm not sure tho.
