Nokia's new R&D center

Nokia’s new R&D center [ 12:57 ]
Author: Korotkov Maxim

Nokia has formed research and development center for CDMA technology in the western Indian city of Mumbai that will provide technical expertise in the Asia-Pacific region. India has seen an explosion in mobile phone services. Subscribers using CDMA-based services are growing at a rate of 1 million a month. Until recently, mobile service providers were required to provide only GSM-based connections. While Nokia has significant market share in India in the GSM market, South Korean companies such as LG and Samsung appear have together grabbed market leadership in the CDMA sector.

The new center will leverage Nokia's existing global CDMA expertise while building a team of local talent around the technology. The center will be fully operational next month, and will expand Nokia's global research network while creating new platforms for technology transfer.
