update review >>6230<< (picless)

no pics here, sorry, enuf pics in the other thread i made a while ago

so i got the phone for a while now and the 6230 has been great sport. but there isn't always good news

- anyhow. for me, battery has to be charged daily or every 2 days because i bash it pretty hard(mp3... radio... cam... etc...)

- loudspeaker is brilliant.

- radio reception is not the best but very acceptable. ie. workable outdoors, works most of the time indoors but sometimes the signal gets noisy.

- mp3 playback quality = brilliant!

- photos. hmm, portrait is for phonebook only, it's not too bad, so i'm not gonna talk on that.

but ordinary pics. they are of very high VGA quality indeed, and night mode is slower but noiseless most of the time and the colour is a bit brighter.

main problem is viewing the photo on the phone screen... when you view a normal photo on the screen it seems so small...

but when you goto options>zoom its quite some better, but obviously then you wouldn't be able to see the whole picture at once.

- video quality. relatively superb

- phonebook is so full! it's full of lots of full things ... email addresses... all sorts of numbers, postal address... phonebook is really cool. really really cool

- applications... i don't like it though how nokia PC suite application installer can't install into the games folder... a bit annoying... but putting into the collection folder not much of a difference anyway, so who gives

- now physicalities...

- i have no problems with the keypad except one thing - it takes (very little) time to adapt to the middle of the dpad, as i said, it's very little... but as you get the phone to start off with it can be annoying

- again a thing of "when u get off the phone to start off with", the back cover is so hard to take off. but you get used to it. for those of you who don't know how to do it:

the trick is: first of all, DO NOT HAVE SLIPPERY HANDS! i know this is hard to say, but like wash them with soap or something first. second of all, it's not about pushing it up at first. it's about pushing the white button down as far as you can, but without using your fingernail. then use both hands to push upwards.
just like a 3310 or other phones, except harder...

btw as you open it more it gets easier, don't know if it's me getting used to it or it wearing out...

- maybe i took the front cover out too much as well that now it's not in perfect shape - dust seems to be getting in slowly yet gradually and i have to wipe it every once in a while. i'm trying to fix this by wrapping a rubber band so it tightens the front cover after a long time(leave it to tighten at night...)

that, or it's going through the loudspeaker

- the screen(LENS) seems easily scratched, same with the black panel at the back.

MY SUGGESTION IS, TRY TO NOT OPEN THE FRONT COVER TOO OFTEN, DO NOT REMOVE THE PROTECTIVE SEAL ON THE FRONT SCREEN/LENS AT FIRST, YOU WILL REGRET IT LATER(but you can remove it on the camera...) BECAUSE IT GETS ALL SCRATCHED

it's not TOO scratched... it's still very good actually no serious scratches, just those little dints ... but i might buy a new cover since i want white anyway

Nice review I agree with the good points but

When I make a call or recieve a call the speaker sounds awfull like it is broken and I can hear a sort of buzzing noise as soon as someone speaks - are they all like this?

I think I will take it back and get another

Later

To protect the LCD and reduce screen glare, maybe you would want to put a micro-thin screen protectors (WriteRight) - the same ones used for pda screens.

I installed one on my phone.

Where can you get those?

You can get those from popular computer stores. Here in the US, you can get it from Best Buy, Circuit City, Fry's, Compusa.

In the Phils, I'm pretty sure Greenhills computer shops got it.

The one I'm using is Fellowes WriteRIGHT. Remember that these are for pda's so you have to cut an exact size to your mobile's screen.
